H just got a bonus at work and we were just discussing what we should spend it on. We really never splurge. Everything he makes goes into our house remodeling. He wants a pair of checkered Vans-skate rat in recovery, and it want a new iPad. What's on your wish list? Something you want but don't need.

Cythe - I just drove to SD a few weeks ago. Man, its flat. One of the most boring drives ever.


I would like to re-do our backyard. We had to spend our house savings on all new gutters this summer instead (yay!?).  Our house had been empty for a while and in short sale, so the grass is all dead and things are overgrown, and the previous owners put random fence parts and concrete all over.  We'll be able to swing it next year, but it was a huge disappointment not to be able to tackle it right away.

And to see these cutie faces again. I miss them so much.

@Trampslikeus‌ yes, yes it is. You literally sit there in your car for like 5 hours driving west and then - omgosh hills. Other than that, its very snooze-worthy.

I want a vacation, a new car and a nice camera. Unfortunately we're saving up for a down payment on a house (and hopefully a baby) and that's where every spare penny is going.

We didn't even get to the hills part.  Minnie to Aberdeen.  Flat. Farm. Straight road. Sketchy gas station casinos. More farms. Thats about it, haha.

A honeymoon! We didn't get to take one. It would so nice to take DH on a Rhine cruse! He dreams of that!

A new (bigger) refrigerator, an expansion on the chicken coop, a new truck for DH, milk goats. If we won the lottery we'd buy a few hundred acres and build a house on it.

A pool and an addition on our house for a bigger kitchen and living room. The pool is happening in a couple of years hopefully but we decided against an addition because we don't know if we'll be in our house forever.

We were in the same spot. If you are renting right now, I know it varies by location, but with interest rates being what they are right now and a lot of 1st time homebuyer programs, if your credit is good and you buy smart, your mortgage can end up costing you less than rent. Between the tax breaks for home ownership, being able to refinance our student loans (because your credit goes up a lot after making a few mortgage payments) and the fact that we're not paying rent now - we're actually SAVING money owning a house. I know thats not the case for everyone, but its worth looking in to!

What I want that's responsible: I'd love for this loan H took out the year before we were married to be paid off. We had the option to do it, but instead we paid off our car, but that payment is higher. Or to pay off my student loans. That would be awesome, but we're fortunate that my payments are pretty reasonable.

Want because I want it: A set of Le Creuset for my kitchen. A honeymoon or long vacation just with H (we also didn't have one because of timing and we're hoping to do something in the next year or so). A professional organizer (and a shopping spree at the Container Store) followed by an every other week or even once a month housecleaner.

What I'm getting: A new bed and nightstands from Ikea and new mattress (king sized!). I'm really excited about it and we've done a lot of research, so now we'll have a bed (we're moving the queen bed into the other guest room) for guests to sleep on that's not a twin.

I really want to move/a new house. Our realtor called it a good "starter house" and I thought that was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever heard. Until we moved in... Ours is a 3 bedroom/1 bath, but just over 1000sf. With 2 big dogs and hobbies there's just not enough room. Also, I'm over living just outside the city where the spittle from a cough can land in my neighbors' yard. And... someone shot at my cat with a BB/Pellet gun last weekend (thankfully he was not hurt). So I'm really not digging the area, though we're far from the hood/ghetto areas... =/

A king size bed. We have a queen. We are bigger people and have two big dogs who sleep in bed with us.

I'd really like a second bathroom. Like now. Preferably with a jet pool tub. Man, I miss having one! We're contemplating plans for that to happen sometime, but there's a lot more on our home improvement list pre - half bath.

A pool would be nice. As well as a second story balcony/deck. Also a garage. Ours is an XS 1 car that is not only shack-like, bit won't fit our sedan due to owning a lawnmower, snowblower, and the hub's motorcycle. And/or a double wide driveway. We have to use street parking for our SUV. But these are things more suited for a new house.

And for just me, I could use a new laptop. Mine was bought in '07 and thanks to MH being a computer geek, it has lasted this long and works fine. My gripe with it is that if I don't restart every 3rd day or so, my Wi - Fi card goes crazy and decides there's no internet.

Basically, first world problems.


ETA: A honeymoon! We never got one! And/or a real vacation! I would really like to go to Harry Potter World or on a tropical cruise.

We put in a patio 2 years ago when we got "the hole" filled in (our yard was 2/3 drainage ditch). I honestly spend more time weeding the damn thing than I do sitting on it. Once a week I yank weeds and it still looks like Life After People

Also on my want list: There's an antique store here that just got in a truckload of religious icons and statues salvaged from private chapels in France and Italy. I want them all. My house would be so creepy and awesome and full of gilt.

Pretty much anything I find at architectural salvage and antique stores I want. I'm still mourning this 100 year old carpenter's bench that I wanted to turn into a kitchen island that someone got before me.

I do the same thing!  My mom grew up in a tiny home with 4 people (3 women) and 1 teeny tiny bathroom.  I can't even imagine what that was like!

DH and I lived in a 1 bathroom for approximately 6 months, and decided we required a second bathroom for every other place we lived.  It actually made house hunting a lot more difficult.

- my own spiffy laptop (right now I borrow Husband's when I want to use an actual computer rather than my phone, because my desktop computer has decided to be a total jerk)
- a new-to-us car (our tiny mid-'90s sedan has served us well but now needs repairs way more often than is reasonable to us)
- a vacation (doesn't have to be extravagant, just a getaway from the daily grind someplace with comfy beds and good food)

I want a gardener... Yard work sucks. I would also like MH student loans paid off. And just for good measure I would (obviously) like to be KU.

The last salvage piece we bought a couple months ago was this stained glass window from an old English church. After we installed it, I realized it looks like a giant penis.

I second horse! I used to be really into riding and had to stop when I got a job and had to start paying for my own life. I really miss it though!!
