Anyone watch NY Med this week? Gave me anxiety

I love medical shows and always watch this but the guy with Marfan Syndrome who tore is aorta freaked me the fuck out.  My dad, though he doesn't have Marfans, has an aortic aneurysm.  Originally he was told it would be monitored because operating on it is riskier than leaving it, up to a certain point.  But he had hernia surgery a couple months ago and apparently they told him that the aneurysm is worse and needs to be taken care of.  Unfortunately, we aren't speaking so I'm getting this third hand.

Watching that man and the pain and fear he was experiencing made me very emotional.  My dad doesn't have anyone he would call if that happened to him (except oddly, maybe my mother) and she MIGHT tell me and my brother.  I just don't know what to do.  Part of me says I should confront him about the vanishing act he's pulled on the family and another part of me says nothing will change so it's a waste of my breath and, inevitably, my tears
