My OB, Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist are suggesting that I go on Rythmol in the second trimester for some cardiac issues including SVT.
I don't love that it's a category C drug - use only if the benefits outweigh the risks. Without any studies of pregnant women on the drug - how am I supposed to know what the risks are? It sounds a lot healthier in the third trimester. If I can wait I'd like to. I'm 10w4d now with my first right now.
At this point my symptoms are daily but mostly just really, really annoying. As long as I rest there is no danger to the baby. The biggest problem is that I can't workout or my heart-rate goes through the roof. I can go on walks.
Until this April I was going to CrossFit at least 5 times a week. Fitness is extremely important to me. Now more than ever with the pregnancy. But is it important enough to go on a category C drug??
I know this is a very personal choice and I assure you I will put a lot of thought into it. But I would love to hear anyone else's opinion and ESPECIALLY anyone else's experiences on the drug while pregnant.
Thanks so much for the reply! I LOVE to hear of other pregnant ladies excited to keep up with CrossFit.
Your suggestions were surely my original plan for CrossFitting while pregnant. But with the cardiac issues I literally cannot do anything other than walking, or an easy ride on an stationary bike.
I've been CFing for 3.5+ years and when this started in April had to make big changes. Heavy weights and speed were the first to go. Nothing but training bars, the tiniest baby kettle-bells and 6lb med balls. But now even those are too much. Even taking a TON of resting and moving VERY slowly. It's not that I get too tired or they feel heavy. It's just after like 8 reps of almost anything I'm up close to 200bpm.
I was SO excited to be that girl with the giant belly, still showing up and adapting however I needed to.
While fitness is important to me personally, I'm mostly hung up on how important I know it is for pregnancy.
I'm having a really hard time choosing: fitness or drug free.
