Anatomy scan follow up...

I just had my follow up after my anatomy scan, and I have a low lying placenta, so have a follow up scan in the 3rd trimester to see if it migrates up, no big deal. And they mentioned some findings with the baby's heart. Suggested getting prenatal screening done and see if it's chromosomal. I had that done before the ultrasound, but results weren't back - they are now, and everything came back negative - so what could it mean by "findings"....should I be concerned at all? What causes them to suggest a chromosome problem. Anyone else ever have this. Obviously all the chromosomes tests were fine, so my doctor said not to worry about it - could be nothing, and they'll look again at the 3rd trimester ultrasound. But, we all know how hard it is not to worry!!!!

Re: Anatomy scan follow up...

  • Not sure what they might mean by "findings" and it's likely only your doctor could tell you, but FX that everything is resolved for you next ultrasound.

  • Alot of times they see a echogenic shadow or some small thing that yhey saw this time, but most likely resolves. I dont know why they have to scare everyone into thinking they could have a chromosomal issue. My 1st ultrasound showed a single umbilical artery and they said i should get tested too. This foll up one showed my umbilical cord was fine, so all the worry for nothing. I wouldnt stress but maybe talk to you Dr and make sure its nothing serious.
  • Ds had an echogenic focus. We got a level 2 ultrasound done and he is very healthy. No problems with it at birth or later on.
