Trying to Get Pregnant

Crazy cycles after BC and finally good news!

I got off BC back in December, my periods were every 2 weeks exactly for 6 full months- most likely not ovulating. This week I was late on my "second period" of the month so I took a OPK and it was POSITIVE!! Finally! Just wanted to offer some good news for anyone who may be going through the same thing or something similar. Being patient is the hardest thing in the world when you want a family. I'm very excited to actually have a chance to get pregnant now!

I assume you're excited about that OPK because you assume you're finally O'ing again? Keep in mind they're not foolproof and even with a + OPK you still might not O. Good luck to you.

Oh hey there. Lol only thought I would post because a week ago someone else posting about a similar experience would have been helpful and encouraging for me. And partially excited because it means I might be ovulating, partially because I'm not having periods every two weeks. Will be seeing a new OB soon to double check everything. :)

  • Actually, I used to be under a different username and just started a new account because I wanted to change my username. Used to be my real name and it wouldn't let me change it. Have been here about 8 months.

  • A positive OPK does not necessarily mean that you are ovulating since your body can gear up to O multiple times in any given cycle.  Unless you are temping and charting then you cannot confirm whether ovulation has taken place or not.

This. I would really recommend that you start temping, OP. If I were in your shoes I would want to be able to track if and when I was actually ovulating.

You don't have to. I'm okay with that. Another thing, does it really matter? If I can encourage someone else at all who may be going through something similar by sharing then I'm not too worried about what anyone else thinks. I didn't ask for advice, although I do appreciate anyone who has given advice. This is an interesting group of "encouraging" ladies.
  • Thanks! I will do that! And thanks for not being rude! :)

Also OP, while your intentions might have been good, the odds of anyone who was wondering this same thing are kind of low.

The trend around here is to not look for past posts that get buried 20 pages back but instead just ask us their question #yahooanswers

  • You were getting periods every two weeks?  You might want to get that checked out.

Point of information: My OB says that when coming off of Depo it's not common but not unheard of and the only danger is anemia. Its more obnoxious than anything else. She didn't want to run testing until a year after my last Depo injection because that's the normal course for Depo. (Not being snarky, I just went through a lot with this recently so I have some info)

  • You might want to try introducing yourself. We tend to care more when things like this happen to people we know.
