TTC after 35

New here...or maybe back...

I just had my first conception labeled as non viable at a little over 6 weeks. It took us 14 months to get even that. Now I have to wait until this one is resolved before we can try again. How long will it take before one sticks for good? I don't know...

Re: New here...or maybe back...

  • Sorry to hear about your loss. I have been there.
Welcome to the board. Hope you get another BFP soon!
  • Sorry about the non-viability.  Sounds emotionally exhausting.

    Welcome and good luck.

I'm sorry for your loss, it sucks.  Depending on your age, if you don't conceive again in a few months you may want to consider seeing a RE.  If you are >35 the rule of thumb is 6 months and >40 I believe it is 3 months.

  • I'm 36. Can't do anything that involves hormones. I had a massive pulmonary embolism a few years ago probably caused by 17 years of birth control. They aren't quite sure why I'm not dead! :) One doc wanted to put me on cumiden for life and give me a hysterectomy. I said no...Silly men!

  • Hi welcome, sorry bout the mc. Good luck TTC.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss, welcome here and the wonderful support from women who are right here with you for the long haul!  Best wishes on your journey!
  • I'm sorry for your loss. It sounds like you'll need a specialist's help to find something that could work that is non-hormonal. I don't even know if that exists. FX you heal quickly and get a BFP soon!

  • From what I understand, a RE might also be able to help address the clotting issue, since a lot of clotting problems also cause pregnancy problems, as they're all related hormones.  I had a PE after over a dozen years on BCP, too.  Haven't been to a RE yet myself, but I'm seeing a MFM as my primary OB, even for preconception, so they can be on top of my clotting issues.  They think my age is more likely the cause of my own recent loss than my clotting problem, but will let me start the Lovenox as soon as I get my next BFP, just in case (and to make me feel better).  But they want me to go to an RE if it takes more than three months this time (I'm 40), and I probably will.  The PE was the scariest thing in my life, I'm sure you're as paranoid about another one as I am!  I'll put up with extra checks of my blood and hormones to make sure that doesn't happen again.  (Though not the coumadin for life after a single incident, that's absurd, forget about the hysterectomy.)
    IUD removed 2/13/14
BFP #1 5/23/14, blighted ovum discovered at 7 wks, Cytotec for missed miscarriage at 8 wks 6/26/14
BFP #2 4/30/15, heartbeat gone at 8 wks, missed miscarriage again, Cytotec didn't work, D&C 6/12/15
Biopsy discovered was a partial molar pregnancy, on BC for 6 month wait and test
Trying again with Follistim/HCG trigger shots beginning January 2016
  • DjinnaG Good to know. I have an apointment with my OB who also specializes in womens health on Thursday. I'm at 8 weeks with a non viable pregnancy and other then a little spoting nothing has happened. Some how we have to get all the old out so we can try again and that may require a D&C which scares the heck out of me!
