TTC after 35

First IUI next week

I'm new here. I'm looking for some success stories with IUI and Clomid. I started Clomid on Tuesday and will hopefully have the IUI done after a positive OPK. I am 38 years old and have mild hypothyroidism, husband is 29 with mild MFI, good count but low motility and morphology. They said he also had a high white blood cell count, which meant he had an infection, he took a round of antibiotics which could have improved his issues. I'm nervous and want it to work so badly. Anyone in a similar situation?

  • Hi it sounds like we have a lot in common. I had an iui done today. I used clomid cd3-7. DH also suffers from low morphology & the white blood cells issues. I was able to produce 4 follies on Monday they were 2 at 21,20, &16. Four days have passed some I'm sure they got bigger. So I'm officially in the tww. Good luck to u & ur clomid/iui cycle
  • I was shocked when they told me about the blood cell issues, I had never heard of such a thing. I'm not having an ultrasound this cycle bc I have to pay out of pocket and I'm trying to keep the cost down, hoping that's not a mistake. If it doesn't work this cycle then I'll definitely do it. Thank you, good luck to you in the tww I know it's brutal.

  • Welcome.
I know the financial part is tough when you don't have fertility coverage but I just want to warn you that clomid should never be taken without close monitoring. I have read so many horror stories here on the bump over the years when OB's prescribe clomid and don't monitor you.
That is just my honest opinion and it is so tough just being our age and ttc. I just wouldn't want you to do more damage than good. Because it can be a good drug or it can do irreversible damage.
I truly wish you the best.

  • Hmmm, I've been seeing my RE for 2 months now and they did all of the testing, they suggested I try IUI with Clomid and using an OPK. This will be my first fertility treatment. They didn't say I need an U/S this cycle, as I am ovulating on my own, the Clomid is to give me a boost. I'm thinking of giving them a call on Monday and talk to them about it. Thanks.....

  • @Hollowvic please go down a few posts (it was from a few days ago) to one that says clomid question or something of the sort. Another bumpie told of her Unmonitored clomid cycle. I have read dozens of posts just like that one. Sometimes all is well and others not so well. That is why monitoring is soooooo important.

  • Ugh, I read the post you are referring to. I'm going to call my RE on Monday morning and ask if I should get an u/s before doing the IUI, I know a lot of women who have taken Clomid and have never heard a horror story. My RE is pretty thorough and on top of things, but if I have to pay for the u/s so be it, they just didn't suggest I needed it so I didn't worry about it. Thanks.....
