Sharing TEDx talk on IF **warning-sad video**

I came across Kara DeFrias's TEDx talk on IF, and I thought I'd share.  YouTube link: TEDx: Cloudy with a Chance of Baby

I'm a mostly closeted IF sufferer - I've told a select audience.  I don't know if this talk is going to change my mind completely (I did consider posting it to my FB page, but I'm still not ready to go quite *that* public).

At the very least, this talk made me reflect on how much of an improvement I have felt since finding an on-line community that understands what I'm going through. 

So, thanks, ladies, for making IF suck a little less.

Thanks for sharing, I'm going to watch when I get home. Did you see on USAToday where the Today style editor (I don't watch, so I don't recognizer her) announced that she is fat because she is doing IVF? My husband is pretty private about our IVF and didn't want me to post on FB about it (I wish I could post on FB that's why I'm fat!!!), which has been hard, because I would like to be out there with it and get the support of my larger friend community; instead just a few close friends and family members know the details. I have decided that when there is a point where I can share news on FB that I will mention how long and how many IVFs it took us, so that I'm putting that out there, even if I don't share it along the way.

I'm super grateful to have this on-line community, too. Thanks to everyone on here.

It sounded like people were posting mean things on her Instagram and FB page along the lines of "Is that a baby or a burrito belly?" I was really surprised about the IVF weight gain- I think it is a good thing for that possibility to be publicized more. I've been worried about people I work with speculating that I'm pregnant when it is really the IVF meds, stress, exercise restrictions, etc.

I know how you feel.  I was more bloated after my loss than I was during my short pregnancy.  I absolutely dreaded the idea that someone would ask me if I was sporting a "baby bump."

Thankfully, no one said anything to me, but I couldn't help but wonder if people were speculating.

***Just a warning that this video is a pretty sad story, so it might be hard for some people.***

I'm not out because eventually lots of older childless women will be voting on whether or not I get to keep my job, and I suspect not all of them would be supportive of the fact that I've had somewhat special treatment because of IF. I hope to come out after that vote.

And YES about the bloating and being nervous about questions! During this last round I really looked pregnant in the last few days before ER. We even took a photo in the pregnancy pose asthis may be as close as I ever get. I was NOT sticking my belly out!

@pblge - Thanks for the note - I hadn't thought to include a warning, but I've just added one to the subject line of this thread.  (Good lookin' out)

btw - I *wish* that's what I looked like bloated.  I wouldn't even look like that after a 7 day master cleanse followed by a colonic .... and pneumonia.... with my jaw wired shut.  (I could keep going...).

I am wishing you do get your real bump someday soon - but I know you'll carry cute.  If I'm ever lucky enough to make it to a baby bump, I can guarantee you, it ain't gonna be pretty (but, none of us is really going for pretty  :@) ).

I might watch the TED video but I shared the Today Show story about Bobbie Thomas on Facebook. I wrote about how important it is for the media to shine some light on this issue, so I am very honored to share on my page. I spent years keeping it a secret and I am so glad I am no longer doing that. I have nothing to be shameful about.
