Crying baby :-( help

My dtr is 3 monthes, and we have been battling her crying/ screaming everytime grandma holds her. Also, i can be sitting on the couch next to her, and once my dtr sees that gma is there she instantly starts crying. I have had gma try giving bottles, walking around, going outside etc. Nothing has worked yet. My concern is that I am going back to work soon, and gma is going to be a caregiver a few days a week. Can anyone provide some input. Has this happened to you? Will she outgrow it fast? What can I do to help?

Re: Crying baby :-( help

  • I have been trying for the last couple weeks now. Currently, we live in the in law suite with gma, and my whole pregnancy was spent around gma. Normally it's just quick and gma holds her for a couple minutes and passes her back because of the crying.I've only left her with her twice, for about a half hour each time, and she's cried the whole time until falling asleep. I can leave the room and she still cries/ screams. Gma sings, tries to feed, walks, talks etc. I have read how babies love to study new faces, but when she looks at gma she cries.
I guess I am just starting to get nervous because I go back to work soon, and I don't want her to cry for 10 hours while I am gone. I just want her to be the happy baby she is with me, withy her gma. Plus, gma might not want to watch her if she's a nightmare.
I am really hoping this is just a phase.

Most family members she is completely fine with, however she is not normally surrounded by anyone other than myself, dad, gma and gpa. I just know it is starting to hurt her gma's feelings a bit, so I hope it's short lived! Do you think it is not helping leaving her with gma crying for long periods of time? Should I do it in short intervals?
We are taking her out tonight, with a big group of family, so I will see how she acts, and let you know.
