We got a bag of hand-me-down toys from a friend that included a toy birthday cake. Luke LOVES it - it talks and sings and has candles that light up that you can really blow out.
It has 5 candles, and one of the songs about how old you are starts out "One....two....three-four-five...." - so I have had Lou Bega stuck in my head for daaaaaaaays. Only now it goes like this:
One....two....three-four-five Everybody in the car seat, c'mon let's ride To the baby store around the co'ner You know I want some milk and juice but I really don't wanna Take a nap like I had last week I say a few words but talk is cheap I like peanut butter, Cheerios, bananas, and cheeses, And as I continue, my mama's givin' SQUEEZES!

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts! DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome. 131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
On the bright side, I'm no longer doubtful about my ability to handle newborn sleeplessness :-bd
I'm thinking I should shift my daily schedule and start doing dissertation work between the hours of 2-6am. One-handed. In the dark. And then I can be free to nap when the baby naps. Seems like a flawless plan.

Haha! Cute song! I always wake up around this time (5:30-5:45) to lock up after DH leaves for work. I recently began having a morning devotional right after he leaves and it is SO HARD not to just go back to bed. I'm so sleepy.

Tomorrow we are heading to my parents cottage. By cottage I mean camp. By camp I mean cabin in the woods. No power, no running water, no nothing. We will be there a whole week. As much as I love spending time there, I think this week will be a trying experience. I am still trying to figure out sleeping arrangements.
My parents sleep in the loft. There is a pull out couch in the main area. There is a door closing off the screen porch/kitchen. Alex could sleep out there (worrying about the dogs all keeping him awake), or in the main area with all of us. But if he wakes in the night, than he will wake up everyone. There is a small building that we normally sleep in 10 ft from the cabin. It won't fit us, the dog and the PNP though, so I am seriously debating putting the PNP in there and bringing my baby monitors. He would be closer than he is at home, but it makes me nervous, I don't think I could leave him to sleep out there alone.
@fabk I would put lo in the main room, if others don't like out the can sleep in the other building
Ya. They say that it doesn't bother them and Alex is a great night sleeper. I am more concerned that my parents dogs are jerks and will keep waking him up. They are lap dogs and bark like crazy constantly. I know we will sleep in the main room I just worry.
ADELINE SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!! For the past week or so she has only been waking up once or twice. Last night she was down at 8:45 and slept through until 8:30 this morning.
Also, DH took today and all of next week off which means I have help and I can nap! Sunday is my last day of this semester so I'm sending him and Addie out today so momma can get some homework done.

I have a drs appt this morning. I plannes on waking up a 6 with DD, feed her, then shower, and have DH watch her. Well I woke up at 530 since she was stirring and I was going to get up and feed her....but she went back to sleep. Well I guess DH will have to feed her and handle everything this morning.
@valstulas >:D< >:D< >:D< >:D< >:D< How's he doing lately?

You are a stronger woman than me for sure! We lost power the other day for like two hours and I was losing it!
@fabk For a split second I was like, "But where will you plug your kid in?!!!"
I'm still getting used to this line-free business. A couple days ago we were getting ready to go to the park, and as we were walking out the door I realized we didn't have any rain gear. I stopped, all anxious about how we would keep Luke dry long enough to get back - and then DH reminded me that we didn't need to worry about that anymore!

It took me till the end of the month but I finally got my June siggy challenge on! Hell yeah! Perfect for our Skittles loving poor's..since my siggys cat won't let them have any.
I always say I'm going to participate in the siggy challenge and then I forget until all the good ones are taken lol Maybe next month!
@mimi4347 He's still really struggling. His aggression is increasing. I'm not really sure what to do for him. :-/
Thank you for asking. I wish I had a better answer to give you.
I'm so sorry, val. Please let us know if there's anything we can do.

Can I share with you all my favorite thing my kid does? When he is tired or anxious and I am holding him, he rubs his hand up and down my arm. It is the cutest thing. I just feel like he's a sensitive soul.
DH has sinus infection, I have cold and sinus infection, LO has double ear infection, and cat caught a cold at the vet. Does life ever get easier or is in a constant whirl wind?!?

I haven't been able to love tit anything and my smilies are missing! :-(( Made sweet potato chips this morning. They're good but not crispy like I hoped. Won't stop me from eating them all...
@valstulas - hugs. I'm sorry and wish we could help somehow.
@DenverBride2005 - happy birthday! Enjoy your day. Sounds like it's off to a great start
Tomorrow we have plans to go out with friends while my brother watches the kids. We haven't been out with friends without the kids since before Delilah was born. I'm excited!!!

I need something vegetable-y that we can feed Ros that freezes ok and is self-contained so you can just pull one out of a bag in the freezer. We've got meatballs for meat... Not sure about veggies. Would sweet potato fries freeze ok? Or I've seen recipes for quiches made in muffin pans, which supposedly freeze well
We put spinach into meatballs, so two birds, one stone

That's adorable. What a sweet little boy.
Sometimes I feel like Tess is sensitive, like when she gives me a hug and pats me on the back. And sometimes I think she's a stinker, like when she rips out my hair and then laughs.

We gave Lillie a baby doll for her birthday yesterday because her teachers at school keep telling us how much she loves the babies in the classroom. As soon as she saw it she lit up and couldn't wait to get her hands on it. Too stinking cute!
So I put the doll in her bed with her last night when she went to sleep. I heard her crying around 4 this morning but it only lasted a minute or two. I looked at her on the monitor to see if she had gone back to sleep and I see her sitting up in bed mothering her baby doll. She was stroking it's head, then grabbed a blanket and "wrapped" it up, then picked it up again and patted it on the tummy for a minute. I was watching and dying of the cuteness. She is such a little mama! After having a boy it's really fun to compare the differences and see their personalities at such a young age. I hope one day when she's a mom I can show her these pictures and tell her on her first birthday she was awake in the night taking care of her baby. :x :x :x

This is mine too.. She will lay her head on whatever she is by when you say "awwwww nice" and then bitch slap you, yank your hair and cackle in the next instant. Scary.
I'm sorry @valstulas. I wish there was something I could do!

@BetsyD2010, that recipe looks great, I think I'm going to try it. LO loves zucchini.
I'm taking Jackson to the pedi this morning. He's had a fever around 100 for over 24 hours now and it won't come down. He refused to eat any solids yesterday and the boy is normally a champion eater. This is the first time he's turned anything down. And this morning he had 2 huge poopy diapers that were almost black. Initially I just chalked it up to teething, but now I'm concerned there's something more going on.
Thanks . I'm pretty partial to her! It blows my mind that our J13 babies are old enough to show interests and characteristics of their own personalities. You both have older kids too, maybe it's because L has an older sibling but I'm always thinking of her as "the baby" and then she surprises me when she does things like this. I realize she is becoming a big girl and it makes me proud but also sad!

@KKinATX, OMG such a cute story about your DD She is a Cancer, after all--very caring and maternal! I feel the same way as you, though--I always think of Caleb as "the baby", and he keeps surprising me with his toddler-like ways these days!
