TTC after 35

new to this board...Just had an HSG

Hello, Im new to this board and looking for some support and guidance. I just had an hsg and Im not sure in which direction to go next. I have fibroids as well....four to be exact with one measuring 10cm. My OB does not recommend removing them at this time. The doctor said HSG came back normal and tubes are open. The only thing they see in my exams are my fibroids. I feel each month that goes by is tough but god willing good things will come our way!! What has been your experience?

Re: new to this board...Just had an HSG

  • I don't have experience with fibroids but I want to welcome you and wish you well.  I know other's do have experience and they will comment.  If your dr says your tubes are open that is good news!

  • Welcome!  No advice here either, sorry.
  • I have fibroids, like a lot of them. The largest is 8cm. My doctor doesn't think they will cause a problem. I have had 1 m/c, but no one thought fibroids were a factor there. My thought has been if I have another m/mc I will have the fibroids removed to see if that helps, but for now I am willing to believe it was coincidence. Welcome to the board.

  • Yay for clear tubes. As for the fibroids I also have 2. They are small and not in the way of ttc'ing, thank goodness. I've been TTC for a lil over a year, I'm under the care of an RE. Good luck to you in ur TTC journey
  • Thank you for your warm welcomes! Best wishes to all of you as well.... I dont go back to the doctor again until another 6 mos so in the mean time will continue TTC
  • My U/S have shown a fibroid for several months, but none of the doctors who have performed the U/S have had any concern about it.  They just point it out and move on...  When I questioned them, they said (as PPs have mentioned) that they don't seem to be concern for TTC.

01/2014: Meeting with RE to discuss options
    02/2014: Clomid + Trigger + TI = BFN
    03/2014: on the bench
05/2014: meeting with RE to discuss Donor IVF options
    09/2014 - IVF#1 - converted to IUI - BFN

  • **pregnancy mentioned**

I have a fibroid, but I only know about it because my daughter was born via c-section and the doctor who did the surgery told me it was there.  So, I agree with the others--they don't necessarily pose any kind of obstacle to getting pregnant!

Good luck, and welcome to the board!

  • thank you for your response! yah my OB didnt make a big deal about it either....Im hoping hes right and things will just happen when they are meant to happen :)
  • I also had been told I had fibroids prior to me conceiving my DD. If I don't conceive this cycle, I plan on going in to by OB just to get a little "checkin' out."

  • Hello and welcome! This board is drama free.  Honestly the best one.  We are here for you for support!~  I don't have an answer for you regarding the fibroids but send you hugs, and I'm glad the tubes were clear!

I'm very sensitive to diet (gluten, avoid processed foods) and environment. Have a history of inflammation and tendinitis before going off gluten in 2009.
July 2014 - RE Visit #1: Eggs look good, Endometrioma on R ovary, HSG showed blocked R tube close to ovary. DH SA normal
DX: Endometriosis probably the IF cause and gunking up tubes.  Since egg reserve is high, RE says I can wait a couple months and then get laproscopic surgery to remove endo & clear tube.  If that doesn't help then move to IVF.
Dec 2014 - Saw new RE - does not recommend surgery on tube as it isn't likely to help.  Doubts I have endometriosis.  My endometrioma shrunk to neglible size (yay!)
    Seriously considering IVF in March/April
    12/17/14 - Natural BFP!
  • I had a fibroid while pregnant with DS...they monitored it during any ultrasounds I had....I believe they said it was about 4.5 cm...I haven't had an u/s since to see if it's still there. I have read a good percentage of women have fibroids and usually there is no concern with ttc...that's great news that your tubes are clear! I have my first RE appt at the end of the month and will be curious to find out if I still have a fibroid (or if I have developed more) at that time!
