All I want is an old school washer with lots of WATER!!!

I tried hot water stripping the tide out of my BGs yesterday and it was slightly successful, but what a PITA!

I have a Samsung WF220 and I can't figure out which cycle has the most water, and even when it looks like more water, it's not enough to wash the residue out. I can't figure out anyway to trick it either. The delicate cycle I think has the most water, but you can only do a cold/cold or cold/warm

Agg! I'm even looking at Craigslist for newer non HE washers!

Wish I had some advice, but I am still playing with our routine becaue of our new washer. It sucks hwen you had osmething else down pat...

@blondolphn‌ thanks! I've only been at this a week, but I want it to work sooooo bad! DH thinks I'm crazy, but he is onboard with the CD too since DD's skin looked so good the first few days!

I just need to get everything tweaked the right way!

I think I have the same washer. I haven't had to strip, but will share my wash routine if that helps.

Ok now I don't know if that's the same one. It's a Samsung but I don't see a type. But here it is:

Rinse and spin, extra rinse option
Normal wash, extra wash option, extra rinse option, extra spin option
I use tide to the 1 line with slightly hard water.

Are those your options?

I've been doing either the rinse and spin or the quick cycle (for more agitation) along with an extra rinse

Then I do normal wash with extra rinse and hot water.

With the all, I was doing the rinse and spin cycle to ge rid of leftover suds.

Oh, no, not the same model. But your routine sounds good. Did she still have the rash in the gmd washed in tide?

Not really-the ones she wore had only been washed once in tide. The BGs had been washed at up to 3 times in tide. She was in cd all day today in the 'stripped' diapers. (I can still smell the tide a little) and she had a faint rash by the end of the day, so I am thinking it was the tide bothering her. My Allen's detergent should be here tomorrow. Hopefully that makes a difference!

ETA-she was in sposies all day yesterday to get away from the cd and clear up.

I hate my frontloader/HE washer too and we don't even cloth diaper much yet (we only have about three diapers we're trying out) BUT, I went to a cloth diaper workshop and she said that front loaders go by weight and fill up accordingly. So what she does is put a couple of towels in for the extra weight and the washer should fill up with more water. Maybe try that and see how it works out?

Not a big help. But you can try getting a portable washer the you can use only for diapers.

There's a lot of doubt as to whether the towel trick works or not. It might add weight, but will also absorb all that extra water.

I don't think the towel trick will actuly work unfortunately. I just did a full load of laundry will a pair of pants that had a pretreated stain on them, and the stain came out 'crusty', like it wasn't really ever washed

Maybe a soaking wet towel would work.... I'll have to try that!

This particular rash clear up with the sposies. It also got better overnight in the gmd prefold (which had less tide exposure than the BGs).

We have a Samsung as well.

I do a quick wash on cold (warm in the winter) high spin and then a hot/cold regular cycle with extra rinse and high spin.  If it's just flats and pockets, we can usually skip the pre-rinse.

I use 3 tbls of Tide powder in the wash cycle.  I sometimes use a tiny bit of detergent in the rinse cycle if LO has pooped a lot.

We have hard water.

The only problem we had with "crusties" on our clothes was when we were using those liquid filled "pods".  When we stopped using those, our problems pretty much went away.

When we started diapers, we tried All F&C and Ecos, neither of which worked well for us.  Hence the switch to powdered Tide.

I have a similar machine (I think I have the same one as TJ?), and we are dealing with similar issues.  I canNOT get the buildup out.  DS had a reaction to Tide, and ever since then he gets a rash whenever I put him in cloth (although we also had stink issues prior to that, which is what lead to trying Tide).  We were in sposies for a couple weeks to treat the rash (it was bad), and I got some Nellie's to try.  After washing with Nellie's, I put him back in cloth, and the rash came back.  UUUGGGHHH.  Anyway, I just ordered some RLR, as that is supposed to help with buildup.  I sincerely hope so, otherwise I don't know what else to do!

I know this didn't really help, but I feel your pain!!

@BoothBaby‌ I'm sorry you are having such trouble! I have thought about going down to a laundromat and using one of the big heavy duty washers to get hotter water and more water to try to strip out the detergent, but then I wasn't sure if there would be residue from other detergents in the machine and would wind up making the problem worse I'm not sure....

You need to do warm or hot washes until the soap is out. Then you need to cut your tide down. A little goes a long way.

How much are you using?

ETA soft water requires less detergent than hard, also.

Do you have a water plus button?  My LG HEFL has a water plus button that will add extra water to your wash.  You can also get a plastic tub and do a hot water soak in that instead of in the washer. then do a rinse and spin or another hot wash in the washer afterwards.

I got my Allen's detergent today and so far, it seems to be rinsing out really well! FX!!!
