Flaunt Your Fluff: TBumz Edition (!!!)

I was gonna save this for a week or two, but @abby8279 accidentally ruined my surprise so here goes.

My first OOAK TBumz OTB!

I really don't even know what to say.  This diaper is even worse than I could have imagined.  I honestly thought it might actually be in usable condition when I got it.  Um, nope!  I had a really hard time even getting the diaper.  She apparently already had a bunch sewn because the print I wanted was only available in Velcro (these don't qualify as Aplix).  I picked the best pattern available, even though its a little girly (seriously, what does it matter?).  She was very polite in her correspondence and the diaper shipped quickly.

 

The fabric is actually pretty...but its like corduroy or something?? but thinner?  Its gross.  I have no idea what the inside is...cotton felt??

I barely got it on my 25 lb toddler (36lbs my ass!!!) and I only left it on long enough for a photo.  The diaper was crunchy and I couldn't tell what it was made of.  It's definitely not PUL.

Oh wait.......that's just CLEAR PLASTIC!!!  And a TOWEL as the "padding"!!!  I ripped it open because I seriously didn't think it was just plastic.  The fabric isn't lined with plastic.  Its a plastic sheet sewn in by itself. @mandmeesh, you were definitely smarter than me not to buy this diaper.  This isn't even funny even for a joke.  I did get a $5 coupon though so the total cost was $20.  Still a huge. waste. of. money!!!!

Oh, and the review on the nursing cover is from her BFF (also the nursing cover model).  I stalked her FB a little.  I don't know how she's sold 5 though.  And sorry all my photos aren't rotated.  I forgot to do that before I uploaded them.

Wow, what a pos.... I was going to comment that it was a pretty pattern, but apparently crappy fabric choices. Why couldn't she have used a hidden layer of pul or something?

Plastic and a towel... It looks like something you would cobble together in a post-apocalyptic world where you're pulling up your boot straps and living by the skin of your teeth to survive in a mean world of zombies and enemy survivors. There is no PUL in The Walking Dead! Judith doesn't get your fancy OBV! She's lucky Carol found plastic and a towel!

That's why you really need to review those.  It seems like a legit fire hazard to put those in the dryer.

Zara, I can't decide if I want to ask for a refund or leave a bad review.  First, I ripped the diaper open, so I can't return it for a full refund.  Which I really thought about doing, but I HAD to see what was inside.  I didn't think it would actually just be plastic.

I don't feel like its fair to complain or ask for a refund because I ordered the diaper knowing it was not real.  Also, I checked her listing again and she never said she uses PUL.

I don't know, I'm not aggressive enough to leave a terrible review.  Her photos speak for themselves and no normal CD mom would purchase her products.  I don't even think a newbie would fall for it.  Also, after stalking her FB, I genuinely don't think she's scamming people.  She's just got a terrible product.  Also, if I send her a nasty email asking her to stop selling them, then she might take down her shop and where's the fun in that?

She says "fully machine washable" but nothing about the dryer.  I'm not going to wash or dry it because obviously I won't be using it.  I put it OTB just for photo purposes.

@welly01 you don't need to leave a terrible review.  You can message the owner with a legitimate complaint and educate her on why having plastic in a diaper is not a good idea.  Maybe she truly doesn't know any better.  Then you can ask her to be straightforward about the materials she uses and, if she doesn't, you can then leave a straightforward review.  No need to be snarky, but something should be said.

I still cannot believe how terrible it is. I just can't get over the plastic. And I think you should leave a review on her shop. Does she have a tag on it? I think that's a compliance issue so maybe you could report it...to who? I don't know.

Yes, I think there's supposed to be a brand tag on it somewhere. It has something to do with compliance for kids stuff. All the material used has to be complaint as well. I don't know much about it but you could check into that.

I would say something like, "Dear So and So, I am writing to let you know that I am unsatisfied with the diaper I received.  When it arrived I noticed X, Y and Z.  It was also making a crunching sound, which led me to open up a seam and check inside.  

I was shocked to see that the waterproofing is plastic.  This is not breathable and it could be a danger if it was put in the dryer.  You need to be upfront about the materials that are used in your diapers and clearly warn customers not to put them in the dryer. What can we do to resolve this matter? I would be happy to receive a full refund or a replacement diaper sewn with PUL as the waterproofing."

That sounds good.  Should I ask for a refund though, even though I ripped the diaper open?

Google CPSIA certification and you should be able to get some info. There's something in there about flammability.
