two prenatal vitamins?

One of the doctors I work with & had twins herself mentioned today that I should start taking two prenatal vitamins daily since I'm expecting twins & am now in my second trimester. I never heard of it. Anyone do this?

I didn't. Ask your OB, but all I was told is to take an extra folic acid supplement (not a full prenatal vitamin) when I asked my OB.

Ask your OB. Mine had me take extra folic acid. Starting at 20 weeks, she also added extra iron.

I asked my MFM at the beginning about double prenatal and he said no. He has me taking extra folate and has been watching my calcium, iron, vitamin D etc. via bloodwork. Everything dropped recently and I'm now anemic. They've added Iron supplements (none in my prenatal) and my vitamin D has dropped a third from week 14 to 18 so they've added that as well. Good luck!

Like PP I was told to add extra folic acid, but nothing about another prenatal vitamin.

So far I take one prental one extra folic and now I am put on iron since my iron is super low

One of my OB's told me at my 20 week apt to take two but he's the only one. (I see a team.) honestly, I just take one. Sometimes I'll take 2 but not very often.

My MFM said not to take a second prenatal because they have vitamin A which you can overdose on. But she did put me on extra folic acid , magnesium, and zinc

I only take one, but I also take an additional folic acid, calcium, and vitamin d (and at night I take a probiotic and a colace.. because pregnancy.) my DH is a big vitamin nut so he helped me keep track of all of it.

I normally have iron anemia so I take an iron. Took 1 prenatal and 1 folic. Have triplets.

I was also told not to take more than 1 dosage but I took extra folic acid in the beginning.

When i asked my doctor, she said one prenatal was fine. She,again this just for myself, prescribed me extra calcuim, iron and omega 3 vitamins. She did this with my last pregnancy too.not because i was missing vitamins i guess just so your body is getting enough.
