Prolapse?

Has anyone had one? How did you know?

Re: Prolapse?

  • What type of prolapse are you asking about?
Cord prolapse? Yes, and if you think you potentially do get off the internet and call 911.
Uterine prolapse? I haven't personally but this describes the symptoms: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/uterine-prolapse/basics/symptoms/con-20027708
A lot of them are things you experience during normal recovery though so depending on how long ago you delivered it might still be normal healing. I know my OB said that my urinary frequency/urgency could still be normal up to 3 months postpartum and that we'd address it if it was still a problem after that.

  • I had a cord prolapse when I was in labor and it meant an emergency c section. As in, they got him out in about 10 minutes after they found it. It's extremely dangerous to the baby.

Oops sorry, should have specified. I meant a uterine prolapse. I feel like things don't feel normal down there yet, which they probably shouldn't. But I don't know what it should feel like at this point. I wish I would see the doctor prior to 6 weeks to know that everything is ok!

Pretty sure I have a mild uterine prolapse. Fab. Add it to my endo & fibroid & I'm feeling pretty sexy. :'(
I'm sorry :( Why do you think you have one? Hope you feel better soon.
  • Hi. I have a uterine prolapse and also part of my bowel was prolapsed. I could tell because things were down in my vaginal opening that weren't there before. It seemed like something was protruding out when I sat to pee ( apparently it was my bladder). I noticed it right after the birth of my 3rd Child. I was really depressed about it and thought my sex life would never be normal again. Also the pressure was uncomfortable, especially when standing for long periods. My bowel function was affected and sometimes I couldn't finish the job when I needed to poop. I think prolapse can be to differing degrees, and mine was pretty bad. I was depressed about it and my dr said I would need a hysterectomy to really fix it, so I should wait until we were done having kids. Mine slowly got better as I lost the baby weight, then got a lot better after I stopped nursing. I still notice it sometimes if I strain a lot with a BM, but I have learned to kind of tuck everything back in if I need to. Mine improved to the point where my sex life is fine now (except I can't be on top) and I rarely notice it at all. I fully expected it to be worse after this baby, but it seems the same as before (MUCH better than after my prior birth). Good luck in dealing with yours. It is alarming, I know, but don't freak out because it may improve without treatment and it shouldn't cause problems with future pregnancies and births. Also, I know it sounds gross, but don't be afraid to lay down and gently push things back where they need to go if it gets really uncomfortable. Try to avoid straining on the toilet or lifting heavy items.
