Chest Pains?

I know that basically anything can be a pregnancy symptoms...our bodies are weird..

However, this morning I could feel my heart beating without even touching it. I put my hand on my chest and it seemed to be "double beating" especially hard & a LOT more noticeable that usual. Now that I'm at work I'm having sharp chest pains on the left side. Maybe 5 short quick pains in the past hour. Nothing down my left arm or anything and I don't suspect heart attack, I feel completely fine. I'm just wondering if this is a "typical" pregnancy symptom. I know there's a lot of extra work and blood pumping right now in there.

I have a Dr's apt set up for today, just wondered if it was common. I didn't realize numb legs were a symptoms either...but I guess it is lol.

FTM...FF please? hahah

Re: Chest Pains?

  • Heartburn is my guess.  I had GERD before pregnancy (well, I still have it) and that's what it feels like when you have a flare-up of acid in the stomach.  Tightness and pain in your chest, it often gets worse when you inhale.  Take some Tums but definitely discuss with your doc.

As for the accelerated heartbeat, I've noticed mine is faster when I'm dehydrated.

I haven't posted in a while but wanted to share my story with you.  Not to scare you but to make sure you're aware.  At 10.5 weeks I was having shortness of breath & sharp stabbing pains in my chest, especially when trying to breathe deeply.  I chalked it up to pregnancy related stuff, even mentioned it to my MD who did the same.  A few days later it was getting worse, not better so I had my DH take me to the ER just to be safe.  Good thing we did.  Ended up being multiple blood clots in my lungs.  Now I'm on daily blood thinner injections & daily aspirin, seeing high risk OB & a hemotologist.  I haven't worked since considering I'm still having the shortness of breath when I try to do more than 1 thing at a time (talk & walk, etc.)  Apparently, your risk of blood clots increases during pregnancy due to the increased blood flow & the increased hormones that also act as clotting agents to reduce your chances of bleeding out during delivery.  This is my 3rd pregnancy & it's the first time that this has happened to me.  I'm glad that you were going to the Dr today.  Hopefully it's nothing to be concerned about but always better to be safe.

I had chest pains around 8 weeks or so. Turned out to be a panic attack, but it felt like a heart attack to me. I am not a super anxious person, but this is my second pregnancy and I have had panic attacks during both.
