Hey there. 12:50am EST Thursday here and I just finished feeding her, but she is in the travel crib making noises at the foot of the bed. Been nursing almost non stop since 6:15pm. Didn't get a nap today either...I fear the night.
Just out of curiosity, when were you ladies told you can safely begin to pump?
When bfing is "well established." I started when my milk came in and have had no issues.
When were you told it was "well established?" I was told 3-4 weeks and dd will be 3 weeks tomorrow, so should I wait some more or begin? Also, when do you ladies pump, as in time of day or sides etc. As to not create an oversupply? I'm confused how that works. And lastly if dd is at home eating pumped milk, how do I keep from getting engorged and springing a huge leak while gone for extended time. I ask because I'll be on a wedding in November and probably won't be able to pump at every normal feeding ttime throughout the day. ..

I had to start pumping right away, trying to get my milk supply up quickly for my twins. Plus we were told there was a chance they were going to be taken to nicu so we tried to get a head start on it (at LCs suggestion). But it didn't really work well for me

They told me to start pumping in the hospital and I pump after at least two feedings a day. FTM mom so I don't know anything but it seems to work for us. LO eats off the boob 15 minutes on each side and then gets at least 30ml of breast milk out of a bottle with DH. He is a happy camper and was back up to his birth weight at 5 days old.
After eating every half hour all day, Charlie slept for a good four to five hours when we finally got him to sleep around 9!! Mind you, dh and I were up arguing for over an hour of that, but I still got a halfway decent stretch of sleep. Praying his second stretch is that good!
I didn't get a chance to pump today and even though LO ate often (6 week growth spurt) my boobs are full and they HURT. LO isn't gonna be able to eat enough to relieve some pain and I'm too tired to pump now.
The glider in my nursery is soooo uncomfortable. I feel like I am either putting too much pressure on my still swollen vag or leaning further back and putting pressure on my still sore Tailbone and hemmeroid. After cluster feeding from 930 to midnight I was so sore I was in tears. I wish we had more space for a bigger softer chair. (
Is it crazy to think a 1-week old can not like the dark? He screams bloody murder if I shut off all the lights... but slept a good 4 hours when I left it off again.
Teddy is 36 hours old and I'm pretty sure I've been attached at the boob for about 35 of those hours. I know he likes to suck for comfort, so I'm guessing he'll love a paci, but Liam never took to one and I don't know how to even start offering one! Just put it in his mouth? Assume that when he's actually hungry he'll spit it out and make it clear he wants milk?
Obviously I'm overthinking things at 3am...
yup, just put it in his mouth, his mother .....mouth. sorry, got that song stuck in my head reading your post
My house is currently baby burrito central. We have the swaddle mes, miracle blankets and halo sleep sacks. FYI, halo sleep sacks for the win. Shit, I want to sleep in one, they're so cozy lol!
Dilemma, I have to poop but I have a baby on my boob. I haven't pooped much since I had him, seriously considering trying to poop while breastfeeding, desperate times call for desperate measures!
@Tdonatoni - yes I had a c/s too and you are so right! I just hate to unlatch him because he is so lazy when it comes to the boob but oh well mamas gotta poop!
Random but I had a CS and I am still bleeding 5 weeks PP. With DD1, I didn't bleed long at all. Anyone else still bleeding? It isn't a lot but enough to wear a thicker pad. I hate pads so much..

My LO is a comfort sucker as well and I was getting really sore and exhausted trying to let her suck on the boob whenever she wanted. My mom came over and told me to give her the paci and when she is hungry she won't be comforted by the paci and will continually spit it out and will start crying. It's worked for us so far!
@emilyh107 & @katekat8721 - not to be too personal but when did the bleeding slow down? Ink 8 days pp and my visiting nurse said it should be slowing or it means I'm doing too much...
@lest12 mine didn't slow down till week 3. TMI but it was dark with clots for awhile, but the doc said I was overdoing it. I have noticed a correlation between activity level and bleeding level
@ktcort13 Did we have the same due date and no symptoms leading up to it? Am I remembering that correctly?
@nelleebelle 1:10am here, my baby will want to a eat in 15 mins or so. Or she will be unpredictable again. DH is hanging with her on couch, wish he'd come to bed but he is into a tv show.He said he would bring her in when she's hungry, I should be trying to sleep.
Morning, ladies. My first motn feeding session. Ds is feeding, I'm exhausted because I can't sleep. I'm too obsessed at listening to his every sound to make sure he's ok. Is it normal to get your milk in one boob before the other?
I want to go to sleep but I need to feed baby one more time. It's been 3 hours and he is still passed out. I might wake him up to eat so I can go to sleep. I'm making DF watch failure to launch and he is so irritated lol.

I believe I have read that is normal but try Dr Google just in case. Also, welcome!

Im 3weeks pp and still bleeding pretty decently. I share your hate for pads. I feel so unclean...
First night feeding since I put LO to bed and I am so tired and achey. Started a full fledged period today with the cramps and heavy bleeding. I've been spotting brownish for the last few days... I hope it's gone by Wednesday as I have my PP visit and I would really like not to have to reschedule so I can have my exam and start my birth control.. Ahh. I forgot how bad periods suck. I thought nursing was supposed to give us a period reprieve?
Up to feed charlie man, listening to my daughter roll herself into the wall upstairs. So happy we did a mattress on the floor for her and not a legit bed, the way she rolls she'd have done serious falling out of bed damage by now! Dh has actually done OK today. He checked in during the day when I had both kids and when I realized I hadn't prepped the next size up prefolds enough at two in the morning, he went down and put them in the wash for me! Such a nice change. Of course, two lights are flickering and he told me that something may be sparking if that's happening. Now I will be up all morning worrying about the house burning down as we sleep!
The kid decided to pee all over me and the floor at our changing tonight. And I am trying to keep it dark so I can't see anything and he went on screaming because I couldn't put new clothes on him fast enough. Gracious...
Stopped in the bathroom on my way to feed LO and there was a ton of blood. To the point where it spilled onto the floor when I pulled my underwear down. I had changed my pad 2 hours prior. Now I am BFing and scaring myself about possible hemmorage. We will see if I soak thru this pad in an hour. Ugh.

It could just be some clots or pooling that occurs when you're laying down. I had that happen a few times in my first couple weeks. Even sitting for an extended period would do it too.
@JmeJoLee83 you'll probably always hear different answers about this, but my ped said totally fine after baby has reached birth weight again. Some say 6-8 weeks.
DH gets up with my for every feeding. He changes his diaper, gets me my ice water and a snack and he washes my pump and gets it all set up for me. He doesn't have to get up and help me but he does and I love him for it. This is the same guy who doesn't "know" what the dishwasher is or how laundry "works" but when it comes to LO he will do anything I need him to do, it is awesome. It is great to have a partner in these late night feedings.
@Taymiller amazing! My DH changes most diapers and hands her off to me to feed but i don't think I can let him when he goes back to work. Conflicted about this.
My LB is in labor! (for reals this time) so instead of sleeping, I'm checking my phone to make sure I haven't missed any updates from her. Can't wait to hear if Crunchy baby is blue or pink!

I work up at 230 this morning thinking it was around 4 and was both excited and sad. Excited cause that would mean I slept for 5hours straight. Sad because dd didn't eat for 5 hours. Now I'm just disappointed cause it's only 230. Need more sleep...
All the other sleepless lady's out there one day we all shall wish to still have the middle of the night feedings because it's sweet alone time with our lo's. Also we have sleep at that point and be thinking it wasnt "that bad". Lol
Finally trying to go to bed after being up since 2 feeding every hour or so. I kept falling asleep while feeding or just holding her so I had to wake up DH to take her and try to calm her down because I just need to sleep. I don't hear sounds out of the nursery where he took her so I guess he had success.
But I learned that 3am is a great time to catch up on shows I missed while in the hospital and that berry berry kix taste yummy even at 3am
