Toddlers: 24 Months+

easel/art space for three year old

DD1's third birthday is next week.  I'd like to get her an easel and some art activities.  This one looks great: https://www.amazon.com/Step2-All-Around-Easel-Yellow/dp/B008VUP53I/ref=sr_1_1?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1403736141&sr=1-1&keywords=kids+easel

My only concern is that we have a five month old.  Eventually, she'll be pretty mobile and I see some of the accessories as choking hazards.  That being said, DD1 has lots of small toys already. I'm not certain I can eliminate any potential choking hazards altogether.  Watching our second daughter in the next year to eighteen months will be key.

Does anyone own an easel they recommend?  We'd love one that's magnetic and can hold paper for drawing.

TIA!

  • We have an easel from Ikea we love. Not magnetic, but you can put a roll of paper in it. There's also a white board & a chalk board. Wooden, not an eye sore (IMO) and only $15.

We don't keep any supplies w/ it. All craft related stuff is in a different cabinet.
The Ikea easel has a spot to attach a roll of paper?

  • We also have an IKEA easel and love it. We don't keep supplies out, either. I store all his art/craft supplies in clean bins (from IKEA) on a high shelf in his room.
