Is Lidia legit?

My sis just had a baby girl this morning. I knew the name choice but had been spelling it Lydia, even in texts with her (which she never corrected me). They have it spelled Lidia in the FB announcement. Before I make fun of her cr8tive spelling I wanted to know if anyone knows if this is actually a legit spelling that I have just never seen before.

Yes it's a very legit spelling. It's the Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese spelling of Lydia.

I've never seen it before either. I think it looks strange although I love the name Lydia very much.

I immediately disliked it, but before I asked if they were serious I thought I would check. Good to know it is actually legit. Now I guess I can get used to it, without thinking my sis and BIL were trying to be unique

I like Lydia very much...so it won't be hard.

Lidia Bastianich is a famous Italian chef so yes... totally legit (I prefer Lydia too!).

Looks like Dad just didn't know how they planned on spelling the name LOL. When my sister woke up (she has had to be knocked out for her 2 csections due to scoliosis and the Doc's not wanting to risk epidurals) she set everyone straight and my new niece is Lydia Catherine!

Hahaha, this sounds like something my DH would do. Beautiful name - congrats to your sister!
