Baby Names

What do you think?

Just a little background. My husband was raised Muslim, so we decided that our kids will have one Arabic name and one non-Arabic name.

Our son is Joel Tariq --he is named after my FIL and deceased BIL as both of them have the first name Joel. Tariq means morning star, and kind of worked out well because he was born at 4:30am.

For this new baby we've picked Adam Leo (Adam is in the Q'uran and the Bible) and Leo is my grandfather, father and brother's MN.
Lena Elise (We don't like the Arabic spellings of Lina/Leena, so while it's a stretch, it works for us.)

We've also come up with some back up names/"oh no it's twins names" Just curious as to what you think:

Nyla Rosalind
Noah Nuri (Nuri is DH's MN) hates Noah, but we can't seem to find a name we both like. He likes Nuri as a FN, but I'm not sold.

Re: What do you think?

  • I like Adam Leo and Lena Elise. I pronounce Lena "lee-nuh" but you might get "lay-nuh" if I'm not mistaken. I would actually go with Lina so there is not confusion.

  • I love Adam and although I'm not a fan of Leo, the background behind it trumps my feelings toward it. I like Lena and I think Elise works well with it. I also like Nyla Rosalind. I actually prefer Rosalind to Elise and I think that Noah Nuri works well too. All the names are not really my style but I think that they are all great names. Good work!

  • Adam Leo is a great name.  Search no further.  You've found a perfect blend of East and West!! Noah Nuri sounds weird together.  What about Adam Nuri as a backup??

Lena Elisa is also a fantastic name!  Great job!  Nyla Rosalind is a good backup name.

  • Thanks, ladies! I love our names and it was hard to come up with back up names. Let's hope I'm not pregnant with same gender twins or we're totally screwed!

Much love for Adam Leo! I am a huge "Leo" fan as a first name, but my DH really likes to have "full" first names, i.e. Matthew "Matt", Joseph "Joe", and Joshua "Josh." And neither of us can really swallow Leonardo -- even though my DH is Italian -- he says it reminds him of the Ninja Turtles. His comment is always, "So if we have another boy will he be Michelangelo or Rafael?" Ugh, men!
  • I like both of your first choices best!
