I've heard feta is not safe for us because it's not pasteurized.... Same with others like blue cheese. I've been cautious and have not eaten these types of cheese since I found out I was pregnant a few weeks ago...
If the package says pasteurized then its okay. I know Athenos brand is pasteurized.

Just check the ingredients. If "pasteurized milk" is the ingredient then it's just as safe as drinking pasteurized milk.
Most restaurants arent serving unpasteurized cheese. Its more expensive and it goes bad quicker.

I'm a feta fanatic and did some research. As long is it was made with pasteurized milk (it will say on the ingredients list), you're good to go. I've already made a big batch of pasta salad with all my favorite veggies and Costco-sized container of Athenos feta....delish!
Actually eta I think I read this on another board so please know this is not based on research: I think someone said all feta sold in the US is pasteurized. Might be something I'll google.....
Give me all the feta.

Most, but I know Trader Joes carries unpasteurized cheese.

Oh sneaky TJs! Good to know. My regular brand is pasteurized and brings me great joy.
I am not cutting out soft cheese. Feta and goat are pretty much my favorite things in the world. A rule of thumb- unless you're paying a lot of money for it (fine dining restaurant or imported cheese shop) it's pasteurized.
