low dose aspirin for hypertension?

My MFM just prescribed a low dose aspirin for my HBP as it may help me avoid Pre-E. However, I've done a bit of research and I'm seeing it also may result in early labor. My MFM did say to stop taking at 34 weeks, but I put a call into my OB just for a second opinion. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with this? (Mobile - I'm 17 weeks pregnant with my second.)

Re: low dose aspirin for hypertension?

  • The Periontologist or whatever it is in my ob's office told me to take low dose asprin and I did for 3 days before i got nose bleeds and stopped. I told him before Starting it I am prone
  • I'm at 26 weeks now taking it to hopefully avoid pre-e. My dr hasn't said anything about stopping it early but I have read to stop at 35ish weeks. I don't completely remember why though.

  • I take low dose aspirin for High BP/Pre-E prevention.  I have to stop at 32 or 35 weeks depending on when they schedule my c-section
  • I'm also taking low dose aspirin to prevent severe hypertension so hopefully I can go full term this time. I've read to stop taking it toward the end because it can increase bleeding during child birth
