I always pee an hour before an ultrasound. Then drink about 10-12 oz of water in that hour... . then I go in feeling good. Bladder is full enough, but not bursting so you want to die.
I wouldn't do juice. If the baby is going nuts it can be hard for them to get the correct measurements.
I was specifically told I don't need a full bladder for my A/S. I'm going to avoid sugar as at my NT scan, the baby was jumping all over the place an I'd had some vitamin water before the appointment.
They told me I need to drink 32 oz of water... I did this with my 12w US and I could barely walk I was so full of pee. I am definitely not doing that this time maybe I'll try for 20 but that's it
The full bladder is to measure other organs inside your body I believe. They always make you empty your bladder to see the baby after they measure other stuff.
I would eat something about 30 min before, but not sugary stuff. They can usually see the baby's sex, but if they baby is moving around like crazy they can't get good measurments.
Ha, I just had my ultrasound on Friday - I was told to drink 16oz 1 hour before, I had 8oz OJ bc I'm addicted and that's my morning routine and 8oz water and tech was able to get all measurements
I had mine yesterday morning. All I had was water and he was ALL over the place! She had a hard time measuring some stuff. She asked me what I ate and was shocked when I told her I hadn't had breakfast yet. I could only imagine what he would look like if I ate before I went!
The tech who did mine wanted a full bladder. I felt like I was going to pee on her every time she would push down with the wand on my belly! Call and ask what your office prefers.
I am going in a little early, before my a/s to try and see the gender. So worried baby will be all rolled up tight in there! Anything I can try and do to prevent that from happening? Thinking about drinking a little orange juice on way to appointment ... but don't want baby too squirmy. There's prob just no way of knowing!
I would def call. I had mine yesterday and called mine because I assumed I would but no one said anything when I made the app. Whoever answered the phone though I guess didn't ask the tech and they said no. It's a good thing I did drink some water at work before I left and I have an almost a 1 1/2 hr ride home during off peak hrs so by the time I got there I really had to go. Good thing I asked her when I got in the room if I could go really quick and she said no cuz she wanted a full bladder. I told her what the front desk had said and she was a little annoyed and was glad I told her.

Food is fine.
Too much sugar or caffeine makes for a squirmy baby, and squirmy babies are harder to get measurements on.
Baby is big enough now that you don't need a full bladder (for both DS and this baby, I gave my urine sample immediately before the ultrasound).
