STM A/S ?

DD is 6 and I honestly don't remember her a/s being as lengthy as this one was. Monday we were in the room for an hour and checked every detail, which I'm thankful for. I swear with her, it was a very quick "it's a girl! She's healthy goodbye"

Just wondering if its my bad memory or if they are actually more extensive these days?

Re: STM A/S ?

  • DD is apart 19 months and I think her a/s was around 45min to an hr. I agree, nice that we look over evey detail even though I had no idea what we were looking at most of the time.

this one was super quick...I think I was in there for only 20-25 minutes.  It really depends on how cooperative baby is and how easily they can visualize all that they need to.

That's true, this one was being a bit stubborn. I just don't remember them sharing as much info about major organs and bones etc. with DD
  • Ours took about 45min to 1 hour.

  • My first took about 45 minutes. This one isn't scheduled until mid-July (so far away!), but I think it might be longer since I'm high risk this time around. Oh well, I don't mind!

  • Ours was only about 20 minutes :/ I feel cheated!!
  • Can I please retract my statement?  Our a/s yesterday was maybe 20 minutes.  We literally waited for the doctor to come in longer than our a/s lasted.

Ours was 20 minutes, maybe 30, same as with DS1.  I think it depends on your tech.  They probably checked everything the first time just didn't tell you what they were looking at?  Our tech yesterday (different office than DS1) was very nice to explain what she was looking at and why - unlike last time, she looked at everything but didn't explain what and why.  The palette for cleft, the bladder for digestive issues (too small means nothing's coming in, too big means nothings going out), the umbilical cord to make sure it's built right (I can't remember what she said she was looking at), so on and so forth.  It was fascinating. :)
