A/S gender question

Hi Ladies!
I know there is an abundance of A/S posts, but I just have to ask.  Has anyone doubted their A/S technician's gender choice??  I had my A/S yesterday and I had a really nice tech, but she was very rushed. A very rude receptionist barged into the room halfway through and asked her how much longer she'd be (she had only been about 15-20 minutues thus far).  She said she'd be another 20 minutes and the lady gave her a hard time.  She slammed the door on the lady and came back seeming frazzled.  I told her to please not rush, as I wanted to make sure everything was OK with my baby. She didn't rush, but when my husband and I asked her what the gender was, she said she thinks girl and showed us the legs and said that there's nothing in between. She also said there were two lines and with boys there are three???  Anyway, I'm sure she's very good at her job and knows her stuff and I really shouldn't even be worried about this, I'm just wondering if anyone else has doubted what their tech said in terms of gender. She also said she's 99% sure but it really didn't seem like it as she was kind of rushing!

I read that it can be 2 or 3... She said she had been a tech for 10 years!
  • I don't think any tech can determine a baby's gender from an a/s, but they most certainly should be able to be able to tell the sex :-)

Semantics aside, I would probably trust the tech, though. Even if she is rushed, she should know what she's looking for. If you don't, maybe schedule an elective ultrasound to double check?

  • It sounds like you had a not particularly enjoyable a/s since the receptionist barged in. I'm sorry!

In regards to the sex, when our tech showed us between the legs it was incredibly obvious that I was looking at a penis and scrotum. I say trust the tech, especially if they've been doing this for many years. If there wasn't anything between the legs then congrats on team pink!
  • How rude of the receptionist! I'm assuming you had an appointment, I would call and complain. That aside, when we were shown a crotch shot, we could tell it was obviously a boy, at this stage I would trust the tech. Maybe if you complain, you can ask for another ultrasound just to make sure?

Thank you ladies.  I will definitely ask my OB to look at the scans and see what she thinks.  :)
