Hi ladies,

I have been lurking for a little while, just learning a lot of things right now. Everyone here seems welcoming, even though we're in a place that no one truly wants to be in. A little about me...

I am 29 (tomorrow!) and my DH is 29 also. I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma last April, 3 months before our wedding. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to freeze my eggs before my oncologist wanted to begin my chemo treatments, and with ABVD chemo, there is a great likelihood of premature menopause. I had 12 treatments of ABVD before I was in remission. A few months after chemo ended, we saw our RE to determine my egg quality after the chemo drugs had gotten out of my system. After many tests, weekly blood draws and ultrasounds, they have determined that I have a reduced egg reserve, and low quality eggs. I also do not ovulate on my own. I never got AF during my treatments, and have gotten AF 2-3 times since November 2013, but for no more that 1.5 days at a time. 

My RE just called, and we will be starting Follistim and Ovidrel on 7/11, as we are finally going on our Greece honeymoon next week. He has told us that we will work towards an IUI treatment if my follicles develop with the injections. Fingers and toes crossed, as with previous U/S, my follicles have been "tiny" and undeveloped.

    Thanks! So nice to meet another kinder teacher. Hope you are enjoying your summer break- ours just started! If I may ask, how is your admin with you leaving for B/W and U/S? They have been great with my crazy chemo schedule, just hoping it will be the same with RE appointments!

    I am for sure! We have been out since the 6th. Summer breaks make RE appts SO much more doable!

    My principal has been really awesome. I was just super open with her about what was going on and she has been more than accommodating. I'm so lucky to have her and an amazing and understanding kindergarten team. I have my planning period right after lunch so I try and squeeze as many appointments as I can mid-day.

    Hopefully your admin stays flexible with you!

    Welcome and Happy Birthday! I'm sorry you have to be here after going through so much medically already. Nevertheless, you are in the right place these women are so knowledgeable and compassionate. Good luck!
    Me: +35 DH: +35
    TTC: Since January 2013 
    DX: PCOS. Severe Endometriosis, Unicornuate Uterus w/only left tube and left ovary, Pedunculated fibroid (on the outside of uterus) and Anovulation. All conditions diagnosed 8/13
    TX: Metformin
    DH DX: MFI - low morphology, low motility
    Ultrasound shows both kidneys in spite of UU. 
    HSG showed clear tube on the left side. 
    Lap Surgery performed 1/9/14 to remove fibroid and endo (Stage 3)
    • IUI# 1 June 2014 started 100 mg of Clomid - 7dpiui Progesterone: 13: BFN
    • IUI#2  July 2014 started 100 mg of Clomid - 7dpiui Progesterone: 5.75: BFN
    • Natural Cycle - so shocked to be in 2WW - 7dpo Progesterone: 15.5: BFN
    • Working with new RE starting injectables in late August.
    • IUI #3 August 2014  w/ Menopur: BFN
    • Finally ovulating on my own!!
    Waiting to start IVF hopefully

    September 2015: Femera 5mg CD 4-8, Trigger, IUI = BFN
    May 2018 after long period of not trying, starting adoption process with family friend's newborn
    November 2018 Adoption complete!

    Welcome! It sounds like you've had a rough journey already, I'm sorry. I hope your first medicated cycle goes well!

    I'm a teacher too. I decided it was easier to just tell my principal and the teachers on my team what was going on. Usually I can do my monitoring before work and not be late. There have been a couple of days the office was running late and I was unexpectedly late, so it was nice not to have to explain myself. I have taken roughly 1/2 - 2 days off per month for appointments.

    January 2013- Surprise BFP, m/c at 6 weeks, D&C 2 Weeks later
    April 2014- First RE appointment
    July 2014- IUI#1-Canx due to scar tissue and polyps. TI with the help of Ovidrel. BFN

    August 2014- Hysteroscopy to remove scar tissue and polyp

    September 2014- IUI #1.1-100mg Clomid, Ovideral, 11.5 million swimmers=BFP

    EDD-6/3/15- Our sweet baby Ryan was born on 1/6/15 and is in the arms of an Angel

    I'm sorry about your cancer struggle. What a joy to be married and TTC now. :) 

    It's awesome that your RE is hopeful for IUI. That would save a lot of money and invasiveness. I hope you have a great response to the meds in July.
