TTC after 35

If you could choose the month of baby's birth...

Now look-- of course we would all like to have a baby ANY month, but just for the fun of it, if you could choose, which month would be your month of choice to have a baby?

**children mentioned**

My son was born in April and my daughter was born in August. Even though it was REALLY hot, I liked August more because I just love wearing maternity dresses! I hated maternity winter clothes, so the less of that, the better. But…for child birthday-spacing reasons (because let’s face it, birthday parties are pricey!), I would like to have a late May or June baby. I still want to be able to wear some cute short sleeved tops and some flowy dresses, and also, flowy dresses are great to wear post-baby too. They hide all the ‘stuff’ you don’t want people to stare at post-baby, and are more attractive than a bulky winter sweater.

Re: If you could choose the month of baby's birth...

  • I would like anything other than May - I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding the last weekend of May, and I'd hate to either miss the wedding or be waddling down the aisle looking like a chiffon-encrusted beach ball.
    Me: 38 DH: 40 TTC#1 (and likely only) since 9/13. Saw RE 5/14, SA good, AMH 2.36, FSH 7.2, estradiol 69.6 indicating good egg reserve. Using OPKs. First Letrozole cycle 6/14, a burst cyst and a BFN. Second Letrozole cycle 7/14, BFN.

    Update 11/14 - had laparoscopy 10/28, good news is that my uterus and left tube look good, and they were able to drain the cyst on my left ovary. Bad news is that right tube and ovary have endo and scar tissue, so they're pretty useless.. Best news is that we finally have some answers and a path forward. Taking 7.5 mg letrozole CD 2-6 to put that good left ovary through its paces.

    UPDATE 2/2015 - We switched to another fertility clinic, but fortunately we don't have to start all over. We're doing two cycles of Clomid plus IUI, if neither of those take, we'll do IVF in April, potentially with ICSI. (DH's SA has gone downhill, likely due to excessive exercise.) IUI#1 2/25/15....

  • @JimBobCooter - Yes, exactly! For my DD every year (the August baby) we have an out back summer BBQ with baby pools and sprinkles. It's a blast!

    @Austrogermokee - "chiffon-encrusted beach ball" HILARIOUS!

    @NeonNoon - Haha! I may have changed my mind. ;)

  • April. All of my favorite and most important people in my life were born that month (my mom, best friend and husband).

    I was quite excited to have a Christmas baby. I imagined the cute pics of her in a knitted reindeer cap and how fun the holiday would have been...She would've hated it when she was older.

  • @Lesliem0901 - I am so sorry for your loss. ((hugs)) I agree though-- Christmas stockings are cute on babies.
  • June, July, August, and or September. I'm a summer baby and having a backyard party is cost effective. Most of the important people in my life have birthdays in July. Myself, DH, DS, mom, & grandma. It's never a dull moment in July for my family
  • @C_Girlie- I am also a July baby! July 2nd. Hello from one Cancer to another :)

    Yeah, I was excited to have a thanksgiving baby.  I would have an excuse to be off work for the holidays and most of the pregnancy would be during the summer except the very end.  Plus I also loved the idea of cute, tiny baby Christmas pics.
    I was born in June and b'day parties actually kinda sucked because everybody was gone for summer vacations.

    I wouldn't want it to be around a major holiday, mine is and it sucks. Summer birthday parties are the best though, so I'd pick like June. Then I could be outside shedding the baby weight all summer!
  • May/June  so I can have the summer off.

    We currently have a June, July, and September. They are all fine. I am not concerned about birthday parties, because I am not a fan of big parties.

    The cutoff is September 1st. I am not crazy about having one of the youngest in the class.
  • I would have to say June or July. I loved having the whole summer when my DD was born.
    My DD was born in May and it's great because she gets to have her birthday while she's still in school and the weather is for the most part nice.

    This is probably the stupidest reason yet, but there's a yearly September fundraiser at my work that I hate with the intensity of a thousand burning suns, so timing maternity leave such that I missed it, and as much of the run-up to it as possible, would be kind of cool. So, mid-late summer?

  • @tlc35 We're on the same page - pregnant during the summer and maternity leave over the holidays. However, I'd prefer not to have to wait until Feb to be successful again to get the same timeline.

    * loss mentioned *

    I am a Thanksgiving baby and while that's difficult at times, 11/15-ish would've been early enough for the holidays to not interfere with her birthdays. The doc considered pushing my date back before the MMC was discovered and he gave 11/26 which is my bday. I think that would've been both good and bad.

    DD was born beginning of May and I was thrilled to not be waddling pregnant in the heat of summer but I'd still prefer that then to go into labor during a snow storm since we are a bit of a drive to any of the hospitals around here, especially the hospital my OB/GYN is affiliated with.

    @C_Girlie and @lgsdesigner: I'm also a Cancer!

    (child mentioned)

    Our weather is pretty much the same year-round in San Francisco. My only preference is not to have a child in January since DS's birthday is at the end of January, and I know how much children hate to share a birth month with a sibling.

    When pregnant w/DS it was the hottest summer on record here and I worked without AC. It was terrible. I was hoping to avoid pg (or at least late pg) in summer months. So for now I guess that plan is working.

  • I'd pick May for a couple reasons:

    #1 - I have the exact opposite problem as @lgsdesigner. Summer is so. freaking. hot. I can't even begin to imagine having to deal with that being pregnant. Winters are a day in the park here.

    #2 - I knew a couple kids in school that had birthdays in the summer and no one ever went to their parties because it was too hard to get a hold of people (pre Facebook), so I would want my child to have a birthday before school gets out for the summer.

    #3 - My birthday is in Feb, Mom in March, DS in April, Dad in June and DH in July, so I'd like a May baby to help balance out the family birthdays! :)

  • Ugh as a January 2nd baby I hate my Birthday, DH is Jan 19 and he hates his bday, for me no one ever wanted to celebrate my Birthday cause they were broke or too tired, I always went back to school on my bday. DH says in college he always went back to school on his bday.

    Then there is the combo present, the "I spent an extra $10 or $20 bucks to buy you one present at CHristmas. "  Where as my sister would always get the $40 gift at both her bday and christmas....LOL I am not bitter or anything. Hubby got the same thing too.

  • @HeathernSteven - My little sister is a New Year's Day baby, and she loves it because she does the NYE countdown and parties her butt off! But-- she does hate the fact that my mother only served the "good luck pork and sauerkraut" every year on her birthday. She also got a lot of Christmas/birthday combo gifts.
