Baby Names

Ivy?

Would you use the name Ivy if you had a 7 year old DS named Ira? There would be 3 kids in between them.
Does the age gap help, or is it too similar?

I already have a tentative name picked, but have a long way to go till November so am still "shopping"

Thanks

Re: Ivy?

  • I think it's too close. What a shame, I LOVE Ivy.

  • Thanks :)
What if it became a compound name?

  • Lol... Got it. But it's just so durn cute, it may be worth the inconvenience LoL.. I wonder if Ira would feel offended if I started calling him by his middle name LOL
  • Too close for me. I'm sorry, too, because Ivy is a lovely little name!

  • It's a little cutesy with Ira as a sibling name.  But if you're good with being cutesy I'd do it because Ivy is an adorable name.

  • I adore Ivy but personally wouldn't consider it of I had an Ira
  • Thanks a bunch guys! And thanks coconut!
I'm still considering it just because I love it, but I'll try to top it so it's not too matchy :)
  • Personally, I wouldn't think twice about it... especially if there are siblings between with non-matchy names. I love the name Ivy but if you don't think you can, how about Eve or Eva?
  • I don't think Ivy and Ira sound remotely similar. They both have the long I sound, but other than that I think it's fine. Especially if you have other siblings in between. I say go for it.
