Cloth Diapering

Re: Registry?

  • I registered for a TON of CD related stuff and I got exactly 0. But hey, they bought pretty much everything but CD stuff and bedding. So I will be using my registry coupons and whatnot.

I live in TX and everyone thinks I am a weirdo for wanting to CD.

  • I had a cloth diaper registry but the store wasn't a chain so it was basically online only. I got 0 cloth as gifts, but I got a discount for buying off my own registry so it was worth making it.
I know a few people looked through my CD registry but I think because they didn't know anything about cloth they were hesitant to buy things.

  • I registered on Amazon (also to let others know we planned on using cloth), and several of my aunts and friends actually bought me cloth diapers and accessories! And zero people gifted me disposables (except at work, and I donated those)- it was awesome.

  • I registered at BRU and Target and put a few CD's on each, mostly so people wouldn't be so inclined to buy disposables.  I didn't get any CD related stuff at my shower, but I also didn't get any disposables.  So, unless you have friends or family that are really into cloth diapering I would plan to purchase everything on your own, but definitely put some stuff on your registry so people get the idea you're using them.  Plus, you never know, someone might surprise you!

The only place that we have around here to register is BRU and I've never seen cloth at ours. Most of my family doesn't online shop so I figured there was no point in setting up an online registry. Most people knew that we were planning on cloth diapering so we only got a few boxes of NB disposables, which we did use.

  • We registered for fluff via Amazon. Received a very nice bundle of covers from my best friend and a pack of preemie prefolds from my mom. Apart from that we had to buy the entire stash. Still totally worth doing though!

  • It couldn't hurt!  I registered at www.cutiepoopsandbottoms.com and got some great stuff.  Mostly accessories, but hey, it was a start.  I think it was mostly my mom's family that purchased from there because she talked to them more about cloth diapering.  Oh well, dh's family will come around eventually.  Oh, and bonus, I didn't get any disposables because of it.
  • I only registered for cloth at a cloth diaper store. I got some stuff and everyone else got me clothes. I did get three gift cards to the store, so that was awesome.

  • I registered for BG 4.0s on the babies r us website and got two multipacks of them.
It's actually most of our pocket stash :)
  • We got 6-7 off our registry and the rest we bought ourselves. I definitely think registering for them prevented us from getting a single disposable as a gift :)
  • We added some to our target registry, but didn't get any. Probably because they are only available online. But we didn't get any sposies either, so maybe it was good they are on there.

  • I have yet to register or have a shower, so I have no idea if this will work.  However, this site came up on my BMB and I'm going to give it a try.  STMs had lots of good things to say about it.  It's called babyli.st (not a typo).  You can put all your registries in one place.  So, I'm going to register at a bricks and mortar store, plus Amazon and an online diaper store (or two).  Then anybody who wants to check out my registry can see everything in one place.  I'm hopeful that seeing all of the diapers I want to build my stash will encourage people to buy them.  I'm also relying on word of mouth through my mom and sister to let the rest of the family know that I'm really serious about CDing and for real buying those things would be super helpful.

Hey fellow monthie!  I'm doing the same thing with babyli.st, though I keep buying diapers because I can't help it, so diapers keep coming off the list!  My family and friends are pretty skeptical of our attempt to CD, so I don't know how many we'll get, but I'm using it as a place to keep my own shopping list organized.

I also like it because DH wants a fly-fishing bag as a diaper bag, so he was able to add it from a fly fishing supply site.  Really, really great.

  • I had a registry at BRU and on amazon.  I had a couple BG4.0s on the BRU one, and a really varied assortment on amazon (their selection, and imported from other sites via the magic amazon wishlist button).  One person bought me a BG4.0 off the BRU list and I straight out told my Mom that we'd like some CD stuff from my registry when she asked me what I really wanted.  Beyond that, I think people like to buy stuff that they're more familiar with, so that might have contributed to the overall lack of CD items that I wound up receiving (well, that and I had a very small shower, so that probably contributed a lot).

  • @trawas01 How does that registry completion work? B/c I just put like 10 things in the cart that were on my registry and am not getting a discount. I'm pretty sure I signed up for Amazon Mom. I know it said only certain items were eligible.

When your 30 days out from your due date go to your registry. On the top before your first listed item you'll see a thing that says use registry completion now. Click on it and it will list all the eligible items on a separate page. You have to add them from that page for it to be added at the discounted price. Only items actually carried by amazon will count.

If you aren't 30 days out you can just modify your due date on the registry. It'll pop up immediately.
    Thanks! I got $38 off.

  • I registered on Amazon and included CD.  Only one friend got my CD, and she is pregnant at the same time and going to CD too.  No one else got me CD from the registry. I used the 10% fulfillment discount to buy the rest myself.
