who gets things waxed?

I used to do underarms and brazilians. But that all adds up to like $90 a month so now I just do underarms. That's how much better my every day life is made by waxing my pits: I chose it over bikini.

i've been shaving under my arms since Henry was born and just got my first wax again today. If you have any issues with PP sweating/BO I highly recommend it. Makes it so you almost don't need deodorant!

How does everyone else do their hair removal?

Re: who gets things waxed?

  • Ok, I've always wanted to get my underarms waxed, but have never done it bc I heard it hurts like a SOB. Is it better or worse than a Brazilian?

way better! i barely blink an eye. go somewhere good if you're nervous, a skilled waxer can make it feel like the hair just flies right out.

@Ziegeficker‌ I don't know why exactly. Maybe because pulling out the hair at the root doesn't leave little areas of space around the root for bacteria to hang out? I should google it to see if it's anecdotal or what.

eta: nothing really comes up showing a link between the two, so just anecdotal. less hair = less bacteria is my guess, and waxing eliminates the hair completely vs. shaving.

  • I hate spending the money on waxing so I only do my upper lip every 6 weeks for three consecutive times and then a longer period between the next.

I only cared about a Brazilian because I didn't want to embarrass myself during labor. I normally don't even shave--legs, armpits, pelvic region--except a couple times a month. For one, I hate wasting the time, two no one but dh and I see it (except when I wear shorts which is not very often), and I tend to like the feel of hair. But mostly because I'm lazy.

I will shave my pits when I expect people to be able to see them or if I feel particularly smelly.

I did promise dh I'd get another Brazilian just for him. Hopefully he forgets. But it does feel so nice; I just hate the cost and procedure.

I wax my upper lip and eyebrows. I've been debating a bikini wax because I get ingrown hairs if I shave but am scared of the pain.

  • Brazilian every 4 weeks prior to delivery. 6 weeks pp and still not sure if I'm ready to slather the area in hot wax.

  • I wax my eyebrows every 3 weeks. I also shave my armpits daily and my legs at least every other day. I got a Brazilian before labor and I am not obsessed and plan to do it regularly. My h seems to think its worth it haha ;-).

I went at 5 weeks pp for a brazillian and eyebrow. It hurt way less then I thought it would and I was so glad that it was all smooth again! I go every 4 weeks as well and was about 3 weeks into it when I delivered so 8 weeks between waxes which seemed like forever! I've been doing it religiously for 3+ years.

Edited because words are hard ;)
  • I get my upper lip and cheeks waxed. I pluck eyebrows. Legs, armpits and bikini I shave. The problem with waxing is you have to let the hair grow back enough, no way am I walking around with black hair under my armpits for that long!

  • I only wax my eyebrows. Which are overdue for a waxing! I shave everything else. I read on Pinterest to use baby oil gel that it's suppose to last up to 5 days in between shaving. I did it (bought baby oil gel at the dollar store- off brand) and it didn't last that long but I did go longer. I use to shave in the morning and come evening I would feel like I had to shave again- when I used the gel I went a day and a half and felt like I needed to shave. Plus it feels legs very smooth- I put regular baby oil on afterwards too.

  • Usually just brazilian, but during the last several months of pregnancy, I had my legs done too. Just couldn't handle the struggle of trying to shave with the awkward balance/belly/hip pain. Now I've gone back to shaving my legs. I'm feeling grungy/ungroomed at 4 weeks pp/6 weeks post brazilian. I'm worried about getting waxed because of the tearing/episiotomy and problems I've had with healing. Fir those of you who do bikini/brazilians, how long did you/do you plan to wait?
  • I'm going to call and schedule my first Brazilian. Should I do pits too? I've never waxed anything other than my eyebrows and lip.

Congrats to my GP Sister from another mister Bruinsbabe!!

  • @Katzalia‌ I waited5 weeks pp and it wasn't any more painful then before delivery. I didn't have an episiotomy but did have external stitches, they were fully healed.
