2nd Guessing Myself

So, I've been sitting here playing around with FF, just to educate myself and see how it calculates O day. I'm starting to 2nd guess my data and I think it's making me crazy. I put in a higher fake temp for tomorrow, just to see what happens & I'd get CHs. If I take out my entries of EWCM, the CHs go away. It makes me nervous that my entry and judgment of CM is effecting my chart so greatly. KWIM? When I enter OPK and CM data, I'm confident at the time, but I keep second guessing my judgement since it affects my O day so greatly. I'm losing it. I've officially gone crazy. :)

Im wondering if there are others that have been in the same boat when it comes to 2nd guessing their entries and if O day was still confirmed correctly. It just seems that my temps would be "weak" if O day is only confirmed with my EWCM entries.

This is with a fake temp for tomorrow. If the EWCM is deleted for CD13 then the CHs go away. It just makes me nervous that my CM data matters sooo much, especially since I'm just learning to decipher between the different kinds.
  • I always think about discarding temps to make my chart more "pretty," but I never do.  Between CM, OPKs, and temps I'm always able to pinpont O.  Are you doing OPKs or checking CP?  Maybe one more kind of data would make FF more confident.
  • Is this your first cycle temping?

I'm doing CM, OPKs, and temps, but haven't ventured to CP.

It takes all of the information into account, but honestly when I was charting the temp was the most important factor. If I put EWCM after I ovulated it wouldn't change the O date, but my crosshairs would go from solid to dotted. Think of dotted crosshairs as less confident. By cycle 5 or 6 I actually stopped recording CM since it wasn't accurate for me to pinpoint O since I had fertile CM during various points of my cycle.

That said, you have an open circle for today which can potentially mess up your chart (and also result in dotted CHs). With the dummy temp even FF isn't completely sure of your O date since it isn't a solid CH.

OPKs were super helpful for me trying to time sex, but that was about it. I would enter the negatives and positives but since they only detect a surge and can't confirm anything, I didn't worry bout them much.

And don't give yourself a headache by putting in dummy temps. It really doesn't help do anything but make you crazy the night before.

Thanks for the info. I'm assuming the CHs are dotted bc the dummy temp is for a date that hasn't happened yet. I had solid CHs for the last couple of days, but with today's dip, FF took them away. I thought I O'd and could just "relax" and wait, but now I don't want to miss O (if in fact, it hasn't happened, yet).

Oral, but if I don't end up KU this month, I'll switch to vaginal next.
  • How much did your temp increase after O last cycle? Was it only a small increase or was it larger?

  • I would agree that it's the lower temp and open circle today that is making FF less confident.  A few more high temps and things should become clear.  Good luck!

I believe the open circle is bc I temped about 40 minutes earlier than normal, bc DS2 woke up to nurse.

I switched on O - obviously since that's in question its not a solution. I would recommend it for next cycle for sure.

My last cycle's highest Post O peak was 98*, but most post O temps were around 97.6.

Were they much higher than the pre-o temps? The chart you posted there isn't much of an increase. Some people don't have a huge increase after O, so that might be normal for you. But if you had a bigger increase after O last cycle it could indicate that it's more likely that you haven't O'd yet.

No, it's not too different of an increase.
  • @Joy2611 pretty much said what I was going to say (this seems to be happening to me a lot - you ladies are so smart :D ) - "Playing" with FF will only make you more crazy. Though I would add if your still trying to figure out how to dechiper your CM you can look at the newbie blog - it goes into a pretty detailed description - with pictures if you can manage that. Know that you're not alone, we all had to start somewhere. As you gain more knowledge about what your body is doing you will be more confident in what is going on, and the "crazies" will go away - mostly. Good luck!

I highly suggest opks next cycle if you aren't using them already.

I been using OPKs for both cycles. They're frustrating also. I've charted two very positive OPKs about a week apart.

It's ironic that I conceived both DS1 & DS2 in 1 cycle and not charting anything. Now charting and it's more frustrating.
  • @Happy2bepreg I think that the more cycles FF interprets for you, the better it will get at it, with CM/temps or just temps. I would just keep temping and try not to overthink/mess around with the data. Also, the more cycles you temp, the better YOU will get at interpreting it yourself.

Check out the newbie blog for CM descriptions, but it's pretty easy- if it stretches, it's EWCM. If it's slick and watery, it's watery. If it feels kinda like lotion, it's creamy. Sometimes I get creamy with EWCM- always mark your most fertile CM. Hopefully you'll start to notice a pattern for yourself.

I thought I recognized your name from Jan15....people usually don't participate on BMBs until they're KU.

That was an accident, which I said on that thread. I'm aware that you don't typically post on BMB until you're KU. I was only there to congratulate a friend that got a BFP and thought I left that page.

Thanks! I read the NBlog a couple months and looked at CM pics. It was questionable bc we are HIO almost ED and semen can make me 2nd guess. Since then, I've looked up differences between EWCM and semen.
