Prefold Question - FTM

My LO will be here in a couple months and I'm starting to shop for my stash. I've noticed that some, like GMD, have sizes on their pre-folds and I've seen other brands that do not have sizes. I guess you just fold them differently? Is this true and is one better than the other at containing things? I'd rather ask now than find out once baby does arrive.

Re: Prefold Question - FTM

  • The advantage you have with a sized prefold is that they're much trimmer on smaller babies.  And really, even the sized prefolds are a bit bulky on little babies. If you're considering using a one sized system, you'd probably be better off looking at flats.  The folds are more versatile than with a prefold.

If extra bulk doesn't bother you something with two or three sizes like Osocozy is good. Personally I really like a more customized fit so I love GMD, Imagine and Sweet Pea.

    Also Flats are awesome.

  • Flats are amazing. I love mine.
  • The different sizes are really nice, but you can skip sizes and be fine.
We use a system that has three sizes: nb, small, and large. I think that is plenty.

  • I have a combo of prefolds and flats.  I love them equally.  They both have their pros and cons.  I would suggest trying both.  You may find you like one over the other.  Or both like me.
