How much TV do you watch during the day? Do you think it is harmful to babies development? I usually spend the mornings taking a walk and running any errands I have but often in the afternoon s I end up watching alot of Netflix with baby in my arms or close by.

Re: TV

  • It's on in the background almost all day.  My not yet 2 year old doesn't care for it and it helps me keep sane.

We got rid of cable so I only watch DVDs when I'm BFing, and DS is obviously focused on something else! Otherwise I watch when he is sleeping and he's in a different room.

  • It's on all the time. I'm do tired of adventure time, regular show, and clarence.

  • I watch TV all day because I am constantly breastfeeding. With my first it was the same way until he started actively engaging in play, crawling, and especially walking. At that point the TV was off for the majority of the day. Don't sweat it, just enjoy yourself. Once LO starts moving you will be begging to just sit and watch TV all day again, lol.

  • TV is always on here too. Think LO likes the constant background noise. I'm more worried that I am always on my phone while she's feeding. A cell phone next to her little brain all the time?! :(
  • We always have something on. TV. Radio. Something. I figure if we monitor what we are using and keep it appropriate I am not too bothered. Right now DS feeds frequently during the day so I need something just to.occupy me as he takes a while.

It's one thing to use it as entertainment and a tool. It's another when a child is glued to a TV all day or some form of device.
  • I am currently mainlining season two of orange is the new black. I try not to turn on the tv til 3 or later, but it doesn't always work.

On all morning here, but trying to change that because it's far more tv than DS needs. Prior to DD's arrival he was only allowed one movie or 2 episodes of a cartoon a day and we are sooo far from that right now.. I suck. But I feel bad because it's finally nice out, but it takes me forever to get them both ready, fed, and myself ready and fed, so we don't usually even get out of the house until 11 (and that's me booking it!).. Guess it could be worse??

This! But i figure its such a shot stage that its more of a treat for DD (2.5 yrs) now and eventually when we have a better routine we will be outside more. I try to keep DD tv limited to educational type shows or kids music videos so she can sing and dance. Helps her vocabulary, memory and a bit of exercise all at once : )
