Trying to stay calm...

Hi everyone,

I know there's a new post on here every day about bleeding/spotting, and I'm sorry to add to the pile, but I'd appreciate any positive vibes that you could send my way. I had very minimal light brownish spotting last night that was gone this morning. Around 1 pm this afternoon, I started bleeding lightly, and it hasn't stopped :( I went in for an emergency appointment with my OB, everything looked normal, except for the fact that they say I'm measuring about 5 weeks + 1 or 2 days, and I think I should be 5 weeks +6. I had my first positive HPT on June 6th, so not sure that 5 weeks +1 or 2 makes sense. I'm hopping on a plane for a work trip in a couple of hours, terrible timing. Does anyone know--if the baby had stopped growing around 5 weeks, would I have started to bleed/miscarry now even though the ultrasound looks normal?

Thanks...

  • Hugs and fx! Hoping it's just some normal spotting and all is well!

  • I'm in the same boat. Feel like crying. I have heavy bleeding but just had an ultrasound today with a fetus and heartbeat of 120. Doctor said I'm not in the clear but everything might be fine. He thinks I may have a blood clot in the uterus causing the bleeding. I'm also measuring about a week behind what I thought, but that didnt surprise me as I just got off the pill. He said I'm at about 6 weeks 5 days and uterus looks good other than the bleeding. I guess we just have to pray and be hopeful.
  • Fingers crossed for you @agogo1 and @Allegralbc

  • You more than likely ovulated late. If you've had sex recently, masturbated, or even had a pelvic exam or pap recently, that may be the cause for the bleed as well. Some women have a much more sensitive cervix than others and sometimes, a little irritation is all it takes to bleed lightly. Just try to relax and take it easy over the next few days and just keep a positive mind :-) As long as baby has a strong heartbeat, and the u/s didn't show any other causes for concern, then you're probably either passing a clot, like your doctor said, or one of the other things I have mentioned is more than likely the case. Just breathe and rest. :-)

The US didn't show a heartbeat, I wish it had. The doctor assured me that it would be too early, but I'm still not feeling confident about that due to a positive HPT on June 6th. We did see a yolk sac and the beginning of a fetal pole, and the uterine lining was thick. The US tech also assured me that everything looked great, just no more than 5 weeks 2ish days along at the most. Thanks for the encouraging replies, ladies.
