Yep. Some women never get an ultrasound, or only get one at about 18-22 weeks. I know it seems like everyone is getting early ones on this board, but rest assured--my first appt is not until week 8, and we won't even schedule an ultrasound until I am in the office then, so I will be in the same boat as you.
Yes, it's normal. My first appointment isn't until July 9th, which I should be 8 weeks then. They don't usually schedule an u/s until the 16-24 week scan, but I might get one earlier since my cycles were a little wonky and I had a m/c in March.
I wouldn't have gotten one early with my DD either, but I had to have my gallbladder removed early in 2nd trimester, so they wanted to make sure we were correct on dates before we schedule surgery. I was 11 weeks at that one.
In Canada, you only get the anatomy scan at 18-20weeks, unless there are other factors involved. I only had the one ultrasound with my first. I was SOOOO jealous of all the women getting lots of ultrasounds.
With my second I had a dating ultrasound because I wasn't exactly sure when I had gotten pregnant, and that was done around 8 weeks.
I may have a dating ultrasound at 8 weeks, just because my midwife is awesome, but otherwise I don't expect anything until the anatomy scan.
I'm sure everyone is eager to get an u/s, but some of us are having them early for less than desirable reasons, like going through fertility treatments after years of TTC, or those with a history of previous losses. I think it's pretty awesome if you don't have to go in for an earlier u/s.

Well said. I retract my complaining, although I can't promise not to be a little jealous inside every time.
@jaytee16 are you spamming eveyones wall or am I just special "> btw I am a DOG person if you didn't know - so next time I expect to see a hilarious dog gif

I swear I was just about to say this... While Im happy that I get to have them a little more often, Im not happy about the reason I have to have them. I guess its the little ray of sunshine for all the all the trouble we go through. Starting at 12 wks I'll have to have them monthly because of my cervix. Yaaaaa me 8-| (I really do just want to be normal)

I might play favourites I do go on spamming kicks with my usual TTGPers, thought I'd send a little spam love your way, hehe. And duly noted on the dog gifs!
I retract my complaining as well. Sorry FTM here didn't realize. Thought maybe something g was weird that I wasn't getting one till 14 weeks. U ladies have been great didn't mean to offend anyone and I'm sorry if I did!
@lauren889 have they talked to you about an NT scan? That line of testing requires a normal blood draw, but also an ultrasound for certain measurements of the baby. It is done at 12 weeks.

No offense taken... I just wanted to give another perspective. A LOT of women get early ultrasounds because of problems and its not always evidient in their siggys. If the shoe was on on the other foot I would be jealous and want all the ultrasounds too... We were just explaining that some of us have to get them for not so nice reasons.

Ok well at your first appt you should bring it up, if it is something you are interested in having done, because they will have to do an u/s at that point. Im not sure if all insurances cover it completely.
Im not trying to get you an extra scan or anything, just letting you know about other tests that are usually offered

FYI, some insurance policies do not cover the NT scan and some only cover it if you are AMA. It's cheaper to do the quad screening later on (but more false positives) but typically more commonly offered due to cost.

Canadian here... You would also have an ultrasound between 11-14 weeks if you choose to do the IPS testing, which the majority do. Either way most of us are waiting awhile for that first one!
my 7 week ultrasound was because I had two previous losses at about 5 weeks. I am on progesterone so if the baby didn't "stick" I most likely wouldn't bleed. So, for my own peace of mind and the doctor was willing, we did one early. Be glad you're not in my boat! With my first, I only had the one at 20 weeks.
