Teething? Already?

I know this has been discussed before but it's been a couple weeks so I wasn't sure if more folks are now experiencing this now. LO is 11 weeks Wednesday and has been restless during the day but still sleeps all night, will only drink about 2 ounces and then starts fussing. She acts like her mouth is sore but she wants more and can't relax into drinking. She's drooling a lot and gnawing on her hands. Her gums do feel a little hard but I haven't seen any white spots.

These babies are freakin confusing sometime.

Re: Teething? Already?

  • Tons of drool and hand chewing here too. Kiddo got his first tooth at 4 months exactly, so it wouldn't surprise me if Tessa is an early teether as well.

  • @MamaFantastic‌ - any change in how she eats? Elliott doesn't seem to want to eat more than 2 ounces at a time, waits about 30 min and will eat another 1-2 oz
  • My LO is drooling and gnawing on his fists, too. For the past 3 days, he's been napping only 15 minutes here and there, sleeping at night ONLY when he's next to me (forget about any privacy, DH...), and he's only nursing for about 5 minutes every hour, and he needs frequent burping now. He's a really big baby, so I'm wondering if it's another growth spurt, or if he's getting teeth early.

  • Harley is teething, she will be 3 months on Wednesday. No naps, mouth is painful, she's always covered in drool and she's been an all around crank. But, you could see where her teeth were going to come in from the day she was born. And my uncle was born with ten teeth, so I'm counting myself lucky she's just now starting.

    DH step mom gave her an ice cube to suck on the other day while I was at work....even though she had teething rings with her.

    Harley has been eating more frequently. It could be her teething, or she could be hitting a growth spurt.
  • My little guy will be 3 months next week . He's drooling up a storm , hands in mouth 24/7 and kinda fussy with the bottle this week. I keep feeling his gums nothing yet
  • 3.5 months here and we actually have a tooth. It's an eye tooth (which I am told is uncommon for the first) but lots of drool hand chewing and naps only on me. I haven't really noticed a change in appetite though.

    I could have written this myself right down to the same birthday haha.  It's driving me crazy. LO also started daycare last week so I attributed the poor eating to the fact that someone is feeding him besides me? Although I found it strange because DH has fed him tons of times and he's even giving him a hard time with his morning bottle.

  • I was literally about to come on this site and write the same thing. Shoving her fists in her mouth, spitting out her beloved dummy, gone from drinking 6oz bottles to taking maybe 1oz before crying and screaming and arching away. Refusing to nap. Constant crying and never happy (having been good natured so far) Lots of drool. Mine is only 9 weeks though so she can't even really hold a teething ring if I got her one. Might get some teething gel tomorrow to see if it works.
  • DH and I plan to get some teethers tomorrow while we run errands, but so far the only thing that seems to help A-game is once or twice daily doses of infant Tylenol. Takes the pain away enough that she can manage to nap. She's also nursing more because it hurts her to eat, and is gum-gnawing on my nips. If that hurts now, it's going to suck when her teeth break through! @_@;;

  • It might be the 12 wk wonder week. DS drooled and gnawed from 2-12 mos, but didn't get teeth until 7 mos.

    Not really. I would say she is still eating normally. The one thing I have noticed, though, is she is getting more distractible and or "ruder", for lack of a better term, when she eats. She bites me much more often, and she plays around with and tugs on my nipple once she is done actually drinking.
  • So much hand gnawing and drool! Our babies are getting big too fast!!
  • I'm not glad to hear of anyone having a difficult time, but I am glad to know this is normal and I'm not alone. I've given Tylenol maybe once every other day when it's apparent she's very uncomfortable. She seems to eat a little more when I do. Good luck ladies! Looks like they're almost not newborns anymore!!
  • DD1 had a couple teeth by 3months. We used to say she drooled more than our late Saint Bernard. DD2 has been drooling ingesting her fists as well so we will see if it's a stage or true teething.
