Trying to Get Pregnant

Implantation? Chemical Pregnancy?

I had a D&C on Feb 24th after a missed miscarriage and my husband and I have been trying ever since.  This month my period is due today, June 23rd, but on Friday morning I experienced a little pink in the morning and then on and off for the remainder of the day either nothing or some brown color and some dull aches near my pelvis.  I woke up Saturday morning and took a pregnancy test and it was positive, took another one a couple hours later and it was negative.  Went out and bought two more tests and now all I am getting is negative.  Has anyone ever experienced this before? Should I keep testing? Could it be a chemical pregnancy? This whole process is so cruel, my husband and I just want to be parents!

Re: Implantation? Chemical Pregnancy?

  • I'm so sorry for your loss and the confusion with the tests. Same q as PP - what kind of tests did you take?

  • The first test I took was clearblue where it says pregnant or not pregnant..first one was positive and took that first thing in the morning.  Took another clearblue test that came in the same package a couple of hours later and it was negative but I also had half a cup of coffee so I told myself it must have diluted my urine.  I bought another brand that night, the one that says pregnant/not pregnant and it gives the number of weeks...that night I tested and it was negative, tried the next morning and it was negative.  This is brutal!
  • I tested again Sunday morning but with a different brand and that one was negative.

  • Sorry for your loss, and the confusion with your hpt's.  It is rare but possible to get a faulty + on test as a pp mentioned someone last week had a similar occurance with a digital.  Wait a few days then test again would be my suggestion.  Sorry for  limbo land, that sucks.
  • No advice but I'm sorry you're going through this. Hope you get an answer soon.

  • I'm sorry you're going through this. I agree with PPs, try in the morning with a FRER. Good luck.

  • First let me say I am sorry for your loss. Second, there are a lot of possibilities with this one. Know that you are not alone in thinking this process is rough - it is, and you are not alone in thinking this way.

Could it have been a chemical pregnancy? - Yes

Could it have been one faulty test? - Yes

Could you be on your period? - Yes

My advice is to wait a couple days and take a pink dye test. The blue dye ones are kind of hit or miss. Also, to help avoid any confusion in the future - I would start charting and temping, this way you can have better insight into what your system is doing. You mentioned above that your period is due today. Your body is not a machine - the idea that it is going to arrive on the same day every month is a farce - you are "regular" until you are not. My last cycle was 33 days, the one before that a whopping 53. You might look into purchasing "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" and using the Fertility Friend app, this will take a lot of the guesswork out of this already tricky process.

Keep your chin up, and good luck to you.

  • Thanks WestCoastGirl for the advice!  Never heard of the pink dye test so I will try it.  Ever since my D&C my period has been wacky last month it was 6 days early, month before that 2 days late.  I have been doing the basal temping along with OPK's and I am almost positive of the day I ovulated since everything matched up.  Maybe next time I wont test so early, I kind of bit myself in the ass doing that but the two week waiting period after O is just so long and brutal. I will keep testing, just want an answer one way or another this not knowing is the worst part!

Not a problem :) FWIW I did the same thing myself this cycle. I waited until 15dpo to take a test, got a negative, and then 4 hours later AF showed up -_-. **facepalm** you'll get a lot of great advice from this board, some of the best I've recieved is to just understand this is not an easy process, and to be gracious with yourself as you go through it. Educate yourself as much as possible, and try and find something to keep your mind occupied. Take up a new sport or hobby, a watched pot never boils.
