It MMS that P did amazingly well at my sister's wedding this weekend! She was a star; smiling and dancing, and letting anyone hold her. She met much of my extended family for the first time, since she was hospitalized for a month after birth and never had a proper meet-n-greet. I have such a good baby
M is being a little devil when it comes to sleep these days, but the 5.5 hours of sleep I got last night is so much better than the 3.5-4 I got the previous two nights, so I'll take it. And I'll happily pretend that whatever it is that we did differently last night will work again tonight But my IMMS moment is that M is starting to smile, most often while she's asleep. So she falls asleep on my boob and then will break out with this huge ear-to-ear grin and waggle my nipple with her tongue. It's really weird and friggin hilarious.
It made me smile to go on a bike ride with L yesterday. My dad, DH, and our friends biked about 12 miles on a safe, flat trail. L loved the trailer unlike his friend J. I'm so glad to have a biking buddy!
I third (or fourth) the booby smile. Even though Colin is terrible, lazy, can't latch properly nurser, when he falls asleep on my boob with a smile it really reduces the frustration.
@KLXVI do you have any info on the safety of bike trailers? DH and I want to take up biking but DS is 8 months and I don't know what to do with him. I thought he couldn't ride in a trailer until he's a year but when I started looking online I got conflicting advice.
I don't have any safety info, but I do know that we needed to wait until he was a year old. We talked to a guy at the bike store and he recommended the trailer over the seat since that is what he used with his kids. We were given the trailer so that was an easy choice. My friend has the seat and that thing scared me since her son almost tipped over the bike when she got on and off. He kept grabbing the brakes and she had to keep her knees wide to avoid the seat. We have quite a few biking trails around here so we will be staying off of roads.
@kklamb10 we have this bike seat. didn't use it until M was a year old. with a helmet. the thing in front of the seat gives the kid's hands something to play with instead of the brakes of the bike/handlebars
we don't go on crazy trail rides with it…just bike to the store or around the park. We love it. M loves it
I guess my imams is that yesterday DH took little girl and I out for lunch. It's only the third time we've gone out to eat since she was born. The first two times DH was a total stress ball. He was afraid dd would cry and ruin everyone else meal (she never made a peep). But he stresses about it so much it ruins my enjoyment, and we end up inhaling our food so we can leave ASAP! But yesterday he was good, it took a while to get our food and we still got to eat at a normal pace!! It's a small win, but I'll take it.
I have so many smiles this week! This will be long...feel free to ignore my AWishness!
My mom came up about a week and a half ago to help me get things ready for DS2 and to celebrate DS1's birthday. It was so nice to have her help while DH was away on business! The birthday went great. DS1 got a trike with a push-handle so I can walk him without killing my back until he gets the hang of pedaling and steering on his own. Instead of a party, we went to the local botanical garden with DH, MIL, and my mom. In the afternoon, we took him to Walmart to buy his first train b/c he loved the one at the garden so much. He also loved his birthday cake and cupcakes, which turned out to be basically one of those sarcastic "nailed it" projects. It was supposed to be a small one-layer cake in the shape of a barn and 12 cupcakes decorated like farm animals. When I started to ice the barn, I found I had zero red food coloring. (The packs come with pink now!) I had to mix up the darkest pink I could manage and then cover it in red sugar crystals. Then my animals were turning out oddly and DH was teasing me. My mom remarked on how big the sheeps' eyes were, and by this time I was so worn out I could only crack jokes. "They're not eyes; they're sheep sunglasses. You get them at the daaaahhhhh-llar store." On the plus side, they were pretty darn tasty. DS loved them and called them "happy birthday cakes."

Although I'm not sure the helmet will go over any better than the life jacket...
That's basically the one that my friend has. It is hard to get him in and out because you have to take his shoes off. Can you try it on your bike and child before you buy it? Also the lap bar kept popping off, but I didn't look close enough to figure out why. Also, the shoulder straps ended up around his arms and not on his shoulders.
We've been rediscovering the prefold love this week! Our Simplex are out of circulation right now because of wonky fit, and they are about 1/2 of our OS stash. So I've been saving the rest of our OS for the diaper bag (or very squirmy changes) and reaching for the prefolds as much as I can when we are at home. On top of that, we've been battling ammonia in the ON diapers, so I took all of those out of circulation so that I could do a couple of hot water strips on them. In their place I have been using a Snappi'd prefold with hemp doubler, and that has been holding up just fine.
So, almost half of today's diaper laundry load was prefolds. Prefolds to the rescue! Yay!
I'm also starting to think that I'm just dealing with really toxic toddler pee .... while our Sbish and TTs have enough absorbency to go 10-12 hours, I'm finding that if I change DS when he stirs after 7-8 hours of sleep, his skin is much happier.
If makes me smile so hard that DDs reflux has been good the past week or so. She is such a different baby and I feel so much happier and have more energy. Hopefully this time it lasts!

Oh man, reflux is no picnic for sure! I vividly remember (amidst the fog of those early days) the first time DS had a dose of reflux medicine and finally (for the first time in 9 weeks) took a 2 hour nap. I was convinced the stuff had anesthetized him, but he just finally was comfortable enough to rest! FX that you and your LO continue feeling better!

It all revolves around you.
