Clomid cd 3-7 vs. 5-9

Even though I am going to RE tomorrow at my wtf appointment, I was wondering has anyone asked or researched the difference between taking clomid cd 3-7 versus 5-9. My AF is always pretty short like maybe 4 days tops. From what I learned from Dr. Google cd 3-7 means quantity and cd 5-9 means quality, but this information was just from other forums. Any thoughts would be appreciated. As always thanks ladies!

I've only done 2 rounds of clomid, but I did 4-8 the first cycle which resulted in 5 mature follicles. I did 3-7 the next and had 2, possibly 3 mature follicles. Both BFN. I don't think it matters if you start on day 3,4 or 5. Good luck this cycle!!

The best answer I've seen for this is that your RE will prescribe whatever it is that s/he has better success with. I see it as 6 of 1 and a half dozen of the other.

Last cycle I took the clomid 5-9 and had 3 large follicles (one was 27 mm!) and one that was a little behind and probably never matured. They were all on my left ovary. This cycle I took the clomid days 4-8 and have four good sized follicles (18-21 mm) three on my left and one on my right. Apparently my left ovary likes clomid. I have also ready taking clomid earlier in the cycle means more follicles, but less quality as opposed to taking the clomid on day 5.

My RE has the philosophy that if you have a 28 day or less cycle you do clomid cd 3-7 and if it's 29+ you do clomid 5-9.
