I'm feeling crafty today. I usually knit, but since it's so hot out, I'm not in the mood. Is anyone working on a project or about to start one? Please share! Feel free to post pics.
I like to scrapbook! I haven't worked on anything lately though because it gets expensive and I've been busy with the end of the school year. I think in a couple weeks I will start it up again though!

@penelopec518 Make sure they're clean, and sand off any old paint/varnish! It's a pain to sand but I find the new paint sticks much better if I do!
Here's a silly newb question... is there a way to post a pic without uploading it somewhere? When I click "insert image" it asks for a URL, so just checking if there is a way to just use a pic from my computer?
I am painting lot of items of furniture... so if anyone has any tips to make this easier, I need all the help I can get!!
This is what I was thinking about doing. We have a lot of old furniture that's just going to sit in the basement so I figured why not. Even if I don't keep it, I could sell it at our farmers market.
@PuppyLove84 I do hate sanding! I have some pretty good sanding blocks, that make it a little easier.
@KatzKiss We have all sorts of furniture throughout our house, that fits for our current house, but will not look good in the new house. So rather than spend lots of money on new furniture, I am going to try to make stuff match and go better with the new house color scheme! I doubt anything I accomplish would be worthy of sale anywhere haha
I'm making spray deodorant today... is that crafty?
Yes, that's crafty. Why do you make your own deo?
Because I'm a save-the-earth hippie. Or because I'm cheap and a lot of shit out there gives me rashes. 6 of one...
That's funny. I never pictured you as a hippie.
I might not dress like one (dreadlocks were ruined for me forever by an incident in college), but I do the small bits I can (to offset my guilt for having a pool). I grow a lot of my own fruits and veg (and can/freeze them), make all my own cleaning products, eat a mostly vegetarian diet, protest the shit what needs protesting... that sort of thing.
I'm not crafty but once we get into the house I hope to put in a firepit myself. Pinterest makes it look easy so it must be so!!!! *supersarcasm activate*

@penelopec518 Have you heard of Annie Sloan's chalk paint? It is fabulous! You don't even have to sand at all. Her wax is a great finish for it too. I'm going to try to finish painting all of our bathroom cabinets this summer.

I've done this before. It's really one of those things that's as hard as you make it. Mine was pretty rough, but it worked! Biggest mistake I made was not checking the burning laws in my town. Whoops!

Oh no! What happened?
Nothing tragic. The fireman that lived on our street came to my door and told me I couldn't use it within the city limits so we only got to use it once. Our "city" is a very small town and we lived hidden away with a big back yard so it never really occurred to me.
@penelopec518 No, you want to use the paintbrush that goes with it. The same one works for the wax too. If you Google Annie Sloan chalk paint you should be able to find a list of retailers.
I love this thread! I am a quilter, but usually only work on projects for special occasions. Mostly baby showers. My plan for a pregnancy reveal to my mom when/if we do conceive is a baby quilt; I have thought about starting it now, since I have no other projects, but I don't want to put the cart before the horse. Here is a pic of the top layer of the last quilt I made for my cousin's daughter:
(ETA: Mobile, so hope the pic is a normal size. Apologies if it's not.)
Thats a great reveal idea! I bet she would love it.

Does the paint give it a certain look or is it just a paint you can use w/o sanding?
@Budders12 I love that idea for a reveal! And that quilt is beautiful! I wish I was any good at sewing!
Let's see if this works.... a few weekends ago I found this rusted side table on a curb, so I sanded it and spray painted it and now it is a plant stand on my deck! Small project but I think it is cute. :-)
I'm currently on the hunt for a cute Jelly Roll for a new quilt. Supposedly, you can make a quilt top in about 45 minutes or less with the Jelly Roll race, but then I never got an adjusted time for making a quilt top with a 9 month old around. We shall see!

I crochet myself and have been making snoods lately. Since its a small project and made with thread yarn, I can make them in the dead heat of summer no problem. I sell mine locally, but they make great gifts

I make my own chalk paint. That Annie Sloan's stuff is expensive. All you have to do is add a little plaster of Paris and water to reg paint and it works the same way. I also buy my wax ( Briwax) at a Benjamin Moore store. It comes in all colors. I get the dark wax to give the antique look and the clear wax to mix with it. Here is a dresser I did last year.
ETA: no sanding was involved! I just wipe clean with mineral spirits first.
Not entirely a "craft" but my summer hobby is gardening. It's a constant that needs my attention every day and it's pretty awesome to eat homegrown at night.

I finally finished a painting. I'm not sure if I'm happy with it though. The grapes are really pissing me off.
Edit: Now that I'm looking at it, I think I might paint over the whole of the grapes and make fewer and each one bigger and then re-shade.
