For those using a surrogate & work time off question

For those of you using a surrogate, how does your work handle your leave after the birth?    Looks like my company gives maternity disability which is paid only if you give birth or one month paid if you adopt, but nothing other than up to 12 weeks unpaid leave for using a surrogate.   It feels discriminatory to those with fertility issues.  Thanks for sharing.

My FIM and current IM are both teachers.  I delivered the first surro baby in mid May so she had summer vaca, and we're gearing up for a transfer in early-mid August, so again I'd be due at the end of the school year.  My current IM teaches all AP classes and said that all of her stuff is done in April.  She's planning to come here at the end of my potential pg and wait for labor.

It depends on the state and job. I live in Illinois and I get the same as if I had given birth (12w paid time off). I am extremely grateful!
