hi all. was wondering what you did with your leftover IVF meds. I've seen a few posts since joining about the OOP meds program...have any of you used it?

Re: what to do with your leftover IVF meds

  • After my last fresh cycle (2 yrs ago), I asked the financial counselor at the office whether she knew of anyone would would benefit and she said yes, so I gave her the box to gift to someone. I figured that even if I had to re-cycle the medicine was a co-pay for me and a lot out of pocket for someone else.

  • I donated to the OOP Meds program here online. I was so easy and it felt good to help someone who really needed it!

  • My clinic asked for any left over meds to give back to OOP patients. They were kind enough to give me all of my PIO after a mistake with ordering a med at the pharmacy, so I liked the idea of giving back to them.
TTC in 2009, Dx: Unexplained IF
Three TI cycles (BFP...miscarriage), five IUI attempts and 2.5 IVF cycles later...BFP!!

  • I gave them to my clinic. They work closely with Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Women who have cancer often harvest eggs for future fertility needs. Insurance companies often won't cover infertility treatment costs for cancer patients so they end up paying OOP. My clinic works with these patients and gives them any donated meds that they receive. It's such a great cause. You should inquire with your clinic.
Can't figure out the signature thing, so here's the short, short version.....first daughter born on November 10, 2013. She was conceived through the magic of IVF after 2+ years of TTC.
  • i think its batter to give someone who need it directly, because when u gave to clinic they re-sale the medicine again to the patient its very disappointing. :( i wish i can get some from someone, everybody here  Please pray for me hopefully im going to start my first IVF soon.....its very expensive, too much tension....  :(

I gave them to my clinic. Sin I gave mine to my clinic. They didn't advertise that they accepted them, I had to ask, but they took them.
    DS#1 born 9/23/06
Twins DS#2 and 3 born at 31 weeks, 3 days due to a short cervix on 8/2/13.
  • I went through Shady grove And I posted on our graduate page if anyone needed them. If you don’t have that option you can give them back to your clinic most times and they can give them out

  • I actually was able to receive some meds from the OOP Meds program when I was trying to conceive #1.  It was such a blessing.  When we finally conceived on IVF #3, I didn't have much leftover.  But, what I did have went to other ladies who were on the IFV board with me at that time.

  • Bummed, I have an entire unopened Gonal F 900 pen left after my stim cycle...it cost about $900.  I wish there was a way to re-coup some of the money.  I don't mind donating it, but almost $1000 given what we have invested already is painful :(
