Breastfeeding

EBF 8 week old.

Is it still pretty normal for an 8 weeks old to.eat every two hours? I dont know if im just not making enough at a time but when we feedher her only bottle of breastmilk before bed its a struggle getting her to eat 2 ounces. Seems kind of low when she wont eat for another 5-6 hours?

  • I think it's normal.  I EP my 10.5 week old and she eats every 2-3 hours still.

Its about 8/9 feeds. I actually have to wake her for that middle night feed. I feed her last at 830 and set my alarm for 230 am and then 7 am. Then its every two hours all day 10 minutes on one side. She has gained well. She wasnt thriving inside the womb so they induced me at 39 weeks and she weighed 5lb 10 oz and is now 8lb 15oz at two months

We started with a nipple shield and dropped that at 1 month when she went from eating 20 minutes then 10 without the shield.

Since she was born I have had to wake her at night and during the day. Every 3hours during the day until a month ago.she started waking on her own every 2. It was every 4 hours at night until recently I wanted to get into more of a routine before going back to work so I changed to.waking her at 230 and then 7

  • Maybe I should add that extra feeding back at night. It also doesnt help she hates the bottle.

  • Just started doing the bottle to introduce it for daycare. At first they toldme to wake her every 4 hours bc she was so lazy. It was so hard to get her to eat. Now im waking her bc I feel like she could still use the extra pounds since she started so young. Its not that I was told to continue doing so.

  • At 8 weeks, she shouldn't be going 6 hrs at nite. And yes, every 2 hrs is normal. In fact, my 11 mos olds still eat about every 2 hrs.
