Cholestais

Does anyone have expierance with this? I'm probably spelling it wrong. For the past two days I've had flu like symptoms nausea loss of appetite and extreme itching all over with no visable rash. My OB office doesn't seem very concerned and only agreed to see me tomorrow cause I demanded. The more I'm reading up on this I'm terrified now. Looking for input. I'm also 35 weeks with di/di boys.

A friend had it. They monitored liver values and induced her at 36 weeks.

It has to do with blocked bile ducts. Yes I'm having some of the symptoms but my OB is brushing me off

I had it with my first set of twins. My ob brushed it off at first until I demanded my bile acid levels be tested at 34w4d. I was induced at 35w0 because my levels were 119 which is sky high. The levels were too high to treat. Be your own advocate and get your levels tested. If it is caught and monitored closely you and the babies should do just fine. There is a drug called urso used to reduce the bile levels and a drug called actigall that controls the itch. My itching was mostly at night and predominantly on my feet and hands. Does that sound familiar? I had not slept for days because the itching was so bad. ICP care.org is a great choleostasis website. KUP!

Yes this is exactly what's going on. I haven't slept in 4 days. My hands feet legs and arms itch intensely. No rash at all. I had bloodwork taken yesterday and will call Monday for results. I'm over my OB office. I've been with them throu all my pregnancies and I'm so disappointed in the crappy care I am receiving with twins this time

Hang in there, I know how terrible it is. Choleostasis happens in less than 1% of pregnancies so drs just don't have it on their radar often times. Do some research so when you get your results you can make sure they are responding properly. Depending on your levels you should be induced or sectioned around 37 weeks. Keep me posted!

I had crazy itchy hands and feet. Went to my OB, and had some signs of preterm labour so I received steroid injections, and that took away itching! I did have blood work drawn to monitor liver values, but the girls were born before my OB did anything about the gallbladder stuff.  My sister had it during her pregnancy, and ended up having her gallbladder out about 4 months after her baby was born.

I had this with all my pregnancies. Dont go to dr google, it really gives you the RARE worst case scenario. The worst part of it really is the miserable itching. The thing that worked best for me was cool showers. There is a lotion called Sarna you can ask your pharm. for that helps alot. SMELLS HORRIBLE but helps w. the itching.  You can request that your doctor includes a liver panel in your next blood draw. There is a prescription medication that helps ALOT, I cant remember what it was called though. The itching will go away soon if not immediately after you have the babies.
