Ok so I've been suffering through the 2WW and AF is supposed to show up today (NOTHING SO FAR!!!) and I am seriously considering taking a test first thing in the morning.... I know I'm not really supposed to test until CD35 but COME ON!!!! I wanna know....

OK, enough whining. But should I wait? The type of test I have is supposed to show positive 6 days before a missed period but I'm dreading that it will be negative... Any advice?

I've come to believe that is a very personal decision for everyone (to test or not to test).  Last cycle, I chose not to test until about 12dpo.  Obviously it was negative ....my reason for waiting had been to avoid disappointment from possibly testing too early.  This cycle I am testing as early as 9dpiui (which was today for me).  I got a negative but I'm going to keep testing (maybe again on 11 or 12dpiui).  The reason I'm doing this (other than I'm dying to know LOL) is to detect any chemical pregnancy if it happens.  I would like to know if I get a positive at say 11dpiui ...even if (God forbid) that positive becomes a negative at 14dpiui.  I feel like that would give me information that I need to know.  That is me though!  

And btw, I'm guessing you're using First Response Early result?  I used that one this morning too!    So many of my pregnant and mom girlfriends have told me that they really did get an earlier BFP with that one compared to others.  I'm planning to keep that one as my "gold standard" HPT.  Good luck to you whatever you decide!  If you test early, my advice would just be to go into it with the mindset that things could still change in the next few days!  And not get too down about it if it's neg at this point.

I think you are doing clomid without monitoring, right? How are you tracking your O? What is your usual LP? If you have a good handle on your cycle and AF is due today, a sensitive test will most likely be accurate. But it is MORE accurate to wait until few days past your usual LP.  I know it is hard to wait, so it is up to you and what you can handle emotionally.  Good luck, I hope you get your BFP!

Have you confirmed O by ultrasound monitoring and/or bloodwork? If not, there's no guarantee on the timing (even temps can be whacked up by Clomid).

If you know your O day this month, then maybe you could look up the stats for false negatives based on DPO to help you decide if you want to test yet?

If you haven't pinpointed O, most likely you could test (meaning be far enough past O) by the length of your longest previous cycle, but that isn't a guarantee.

Either way, I wish you peace during this tough time!

For a laugh - my DH was Skyping with his parents last week (they're in China). He started telling them that our IUI was scheduled for Sunday, so he could call them Monday or Tuesday with the results. I wasn't sure if I understood his Chinese correctly, so I asked innocently, Dear, how soon do you think a pregnancy test can show if you're pregnant?

He said, By 2 days later, right? When I would complain about the 2 weeks, apparently he's been hearing "2 days" for the past 5 years! Well, in his defense, it's only the last 2 days or so of the 2WW that I get really antsy.

I then called my mom to tell her this story, and she said, Well honey I know with a blood test now it's 24 hours, right? Will you go in for a blood test?

Bunny - that is too funny. As if the urge to know wasn't strong enough already!

Waterlily - Yea I'm not monitoring (didn't find out til this cycle that was even an option. DH is freaked out by the possibility of multiples) but my cycle has been very predictable the past couple months and I've been using cervical fluid as my hint that O is happening. I'm seriously debating testing tomorrow and again in a couple days if negative. I'm kinda dreading it though because last cycle AF showed up right as I was getting ready to pee on the stick.... Talk about timing!

Eastbay - I am using First Response! I've heard really good things about it and I never have the patience to actually wait until after I've missed. lol However that also means I have spent a lot on tests because I use it way early then feel like I have to "double check" later if AF still hasn't shown up.

I tested this morning and I only triggered 10 days ago...clearly I am not the model of patience. Granted, I kinda had a reason because I left early this morning for a 4 day weekend, but really, that was a lame excuse. BFN obvs. I brought another FRER with me and will test Sat. I just can't make myself wait.

Well... I tested this morning... BFN. I will admit I got pretty down. Thankfully DH was understanding instead of dismissive. Not sure if I need to wait til AF shows up to call my OB. The next step for me is to get a referral for a RE. Should be interesting....
