*Small update* A bit of a scare today, but ok (2redtulips)

Well, I am in L&D after having some bright red bleeding first thing this morning. It was enough blood to soak a liner, so it really freaked me out. (I am 33 weeks tomorrow.)

Doc sent me to L&D at the hospital. Baby looks great, according to the doc who checked me. "Happiest baby on the block," she said. Heart rate is good, blood oxygenation is good, etc.

Ultrasound showed that placenta looks good - no obvious abruptions and it's high. They just did a blood draw that will show if there is a small abruption.

They are admitting me for at least 24 hrs just to keep an eye and make sure there's no more bleeding. They also gave me a steroid shot to strengthen baby's lungs, in case I do deliver early.

Hoping baby stays put for several more weeks!

*Update*
They took me to the perinatal unit for an ultrasound. No obvious signs of clots or abruptions. They said small abruptions don't necessarily show up on the u/s, though. So, I am likey here until Saturday morning if there's no more bleeding (haven't had any more since I checked in).

As for baby, he's looking super healthy. Measuring 60th percentile overall - 99th percentile for head. So, yeah - gulp. :)

    Sounds scary, but I am glad it seems like everything is alright for now. It's great to hear that baby is doing well!! T&Ps!

    Oh no, what a scare! I'm glad you and baby boy are both okay and that you're in very good hands. Get lots of rest and I hope you're able to head home soon.

    Im so glad you and baby are ok!!! I also was in L&D last night! These babies worry us even in the womb! I'll say a prayer tht your LO stays cooking a while longer!

    Yes, worry seems to be a bit of a constant. I told DH, "Just when I was getting cocky about my perfect pregnancy..."

    How scary!  I'm so sorry that you went through that, but so relieved to hear your LO is looking great. Did they find any reason for the bleeding or did they just chalk it up to "who knows? pregnancy is weird."?

    @MsAmandaPants, Doc thinks it's a minor placental abruption. He says some clear up on their own and everything is smooth sailing after that. So, that's why they're keeping me to make sure there's no more bleeding. So far, there hasn't been, so FX that that continues.

    Will likely get another more detailed scan tomorrow.

    Not an abruption. Rather a marginal placental sinus separation, which is less serious.

    Wow I am sorry you had to go through this! Seeing the blood must have been terrifying at least! I am glad that the baby seems to be doing so good :) I hope thy don't find anything and you can go home soon :) In any case you are in the best place if something happens and being taken care of, so that's great. Did the bleeding stop?  HUGs

    A word to the wise... not sure if you're planning on an epidural or not, but with the large head, push slowly no matter what they tell you. See if you can get someone to massage you with oil or something to stretch more easily. My 99th percentile headed son left me with 47 stitches after two quick pushes. Not a good idea. Going natural should make it easier to go slower if it's a consideration for you.
