Sleeping poll

Hi all! I'm curious on parenting's opinion about my daughter's sleeping situation, and what you truly believe to be true. Some back info: my baby just turned 9 months. She usually will sleep from 7:30-around 3:00, wake up and cry, I will nurse her back to sleep I about 15-20 minutes, and she will then sleep until about 7:00. Sometimes at bedtime I nurse her to sleep but if she doesn't fall asleep at the last feeding, I can put her to bed and she will whine or cry for less than 5 minutes until she's knocked out. When she wakes in the MOTN, I will usually wait 5-10 minutes before getting her because she will often go back to sleep, but she always needs me to go in and nurse her once usually around 3:00-5:00 am. Please select from the following options what you believe to be true :

Keep nursing and/or comforting her during her early morning wake up: she'll eventually grow out of it on her own

You're going to need to let her cry to get out of the habit of that early morning wake-up

Re: Sleeping poll

  • My girls did this too until they were about a year old. They grew out of it and so will she. All in good time.

  • Agree with others. She's less than a year, I'd stick with her a little longer before cutting it out

I voted to continue nursing her, but to be fair you should know that my 15 month old still wakes between 1 and 5 times a night, doesn't always go right back to sleep after nursing, and to me your situation sounds like a dream!

I'm sure that there are many "helpful" people in your life encouraging you not to feed your child when she's hungry, though. Just my experience.

Exactly. Do what you think is best and if people in your life give you a hard time about it, don't tell them. Or just lie and say she sleeps through the night
