5 days overdue & just back from the midwife.

Just looking for advice really. I went to the midwife Monday who said that I was nearly fully engaged & moving in the right direction- although only BH felt before then & have had a really easy pregnancy.

Just back from seeing the midwife where the plan was to do a membrane sweep as mine doesn't like doing it until atleast you are 5 days overdue as it's not very effective. Anyways it turns out that the baby has popped out from behind my pelvis. Her head is completely free- so she couldn't do the sweep as her head is too high. I lost some of my plug yesterday (I think anyways) so was hoping I was moving forward but feel like I've had a massive jump backwards.

I know she will make an appearance when she's ready either naturally or with an induction.

I'm a first time mum so was wondering if this sounds fimilar & my wait won't be much longer?
Thanks ladies x

  • Sounds like exactly what I went through with DD1 I wasn't dilated effaced she wasn't engaged nothing at 5pm on Wednesday. Thursday 1am full blown labor, got to the hospital at 5 am and was already 6cm.

Like you already said, it will happen when it happens. I was also over due with dd1

  • Thank you so much for your reply.. Was just the boost I needed. Everyone is different but does make me feel more hopeful.
It's hard not knowing the end date and I'm terrible at waiting for things. I think I'm just going to have a laid back little monkey on my hands. x
  • Totally normal.  Just try to relax and enjoy the last few days.  Lots of walking and squatting will help baby get into a good position.
  • I was 5 days overdue as well and was feeling pretty desperate! I looked for options online and decided to try the midwife recipe for castor oil and oj. I was having contractions 5 hours later and had my baby girl the next day

  • I tried castor oil also and it didn't do a dang thing. I think the castor oil then going into labor thing is just coincidental.

Either way you won't be pregnant for long. I'm super impatient also. I try and remind myself when ever I'm feeling super impatient:
It goes by so quickly. After I had DD1 I immediately missed being pregnant. Also this could very well be our last child. I'm due in 5 days, but won't be pregnant for more than a week and a half. In the grand scheme of things, it's not very long.
