  • I think it's important for kids to understand the concept of "sometimes" foods and when you can eat them.

You can eat an ice cream cone after you've played a hard game of whateversport.  You cannot have an ice cream cone because it's Tuesday.
I wish  I was taught this as a child.

  • UO (food related IdowhatIwant)...

I think there is a limit to how many toppings can go on a pizza before it gets fucking nasty.  This is brought to you by my office lunch today.  The boss had Mellow Mushroom ordered for the entire office and ordered:

a Mighty Meaty which has pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, ham and bacon on it

    and

a House pizza which has mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, ham, bacon, mushrooms, olives, tomatoes, green peppers and onions... topped with extra mozzarella.

That shit ain't a fuckin pizza!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want one of these without mushrooms right now.

  • I think GRRM is a pompous, self-impressed ass.  I think his stories are good, but like I said before, he needs an editor with a much heavier hand.  I honestly have no faith that he's going to finish the series.

He apparently doesn't either.  Recently, he sat down with the producers of the HBO show and told them how everything is going to play out "in case he doesn't finished the saga".

What the fuck dude.  This is your literary legacy... not these fucking dumbass side projects that you keep publishing.  Get over yourself... finish the damn books.

I love that when GRRM asked Peter Dinklage if he read the books, he told him no.  Apparently this was none too pleasing to GRRM.  lol.
At least take care of your legacy. Robert Jordan worked with another author to finish the last two books when he realized that he was going to die before finishing his series.

GRRM has straight up said he will never let another author complete his book series.

Which is why it's doublely fucked up that he told the HBO producers the end of the series.

This asshole wants it to keep going as a TV series but fuck the readers that have been following him for 20 years.

That absolutely sucks and makes me not want to start the series.

The only reason I'm against segregating non-vaxed kids from the rest of the kids is there would have to be a lot of rules as to what constituted why a child was segregated and it would get ugly.

Merely being non-vaxed isn't enough because there are kids who have legit allergies or other medical conditions.

You would have to say that the segregated kids were segregated because of their parents religious beliefs, which opens a whole new can of worms w/r/t religious discrimination.

I wonder what happens when all these non-vaxed kids become adults?  It's not their fault their parents were nutters and didn't vax.  Then they have to head to the Dr. and get a zillion shots?  Ugh.  It's a farking mess.
I really hope they do.  I doubt they'd be able to go to college even.  I had to be fully up-to-date with my vaccinations before I could start college.

  • UO in my area: Owning a nice camera =/= photographer.
Meh.. technically anyone that takes a picture is a photographer, per se (sorry I'm being pedantic)... but I'm irrationally offended when someone thinks they can charge for photos and they have, at best, an expensive camera and a book about pictures.
This just started on my Fb feed, like last week, and the photos are atrocious.

Couldn't you just say "non vaxxed absent a medical note stating allergy or other medical conditions mean the child cannot have the vaccine"
You could, but then the parents would get all butthurt and sue the school district for discrimination.

Also, they would flood FB, twitter, and all other social media about how the school isn't allowing their preshus to get an education and isn't the school just so MEEN AND ROOD?

Another FFTC - I know this is 2-3 years off for us still but I am now worried about finding summer care for DD once she's in Kindergarten and out of school for the summer. I'm a working mom. I know millions of other WM's handle this but damn....I am daunted by the task of having to piece together summer camps / hire a summer sitter who I trust enough to drive my child around to activities and basically thinking "What do I do for 2.5 months of break????"

I guess I always need something to worry about. :(

OMG I've been in a spiral about before school/after school care/summer camps for like, a year and he doesn't even start K until a year from September.  But really, it's daunting especially when you have another kid who has to go someplace different and you're the only person who does pick up/drop offs.  I figure we always take a vacation week, DH can take another and I can take another.  ILs can come down or take him for a week so that's a month lol  And for the first summer after K I think I can still send him to the daycare for the summer but after that I feel like he'll be too old and will need to be with kids his own age.
I'm behind so I'm just responding and don't know if this has been brought up.  But do your daycares not provide before/after school care?  Our does and provides transport to and from school and then the kids can go full time in the summer.  That's been my plan all along.  There's no way I would have time in the morning or evenings to stop at multiple places.
Unfortunately, we live in a tiny ass town that doesn't have any daycares so we use one in the next town that's on my way to work.  Unless I hire someone to transport him, he can't get there from his (out of town) school.

  • @ClaireFraser so right now I know I'll need to drop two kids in two different places and be at work by 8 and then have them both picked up by 6.  I'm not looking forward to it.  If I put him on the bus it's even worse because the bus doesn't come until 7:40 so I'd start work late, have to work late and then be in even more of a time crunch to get them both picked up.  Yay!

  • @ClaireFraser it's a small center (not corporate) that's infant through pre-K.  For the kids who go to school in that town, the bus picks them up and drops them off but my town obviously doesn't bus out of town.

Bus story for LRMM: I rode the bus to/from preschool ONCE.  My mom was waiting for me at the end of the day and I wasn't showing up, wasn't showing up.  She finally called the school.  I was new on the schedule and so fucking tiny, the bus driver forgot me AND didn't see me on the bus and had driven back to the school before he realized he'd never brought me home.  I never rode the bus to school again in my entire school career.

Oh more school related-my kid is never riding the school bus either. Newp.

I used to work in probate court, where all the money from kids' personal injury settlements was handled and there were wayyyyyy too many settlements with the public school system buses for my liking.

Eta: I won't say never, but it makes me very nervous.
