TTC with Endometriosis

A bit about my story:

I am 25 and have been ttc my first child for over a year now. At the 1 year mark, I went back to see my OBGYN and he did an ultrasound which showed high vascularity. He came to the conclusion of endo and I just had my laparoscopic surgery June 9th. I go in to see him for my post op appt on Saturday but he did tell me after surgery that I had stage 2 (some stage 3) endo. His MA told me he will probably want to do hormone therapy (Lupron) for 6 months, which after doing research on, I do not believe I want to go this route.

My question: how many of you are TTC with endo? Who has gone the Lupron route and who has chosen against it? If you chose against it, what (if anything) did you do after laparoscopic surgery to help conceive? I am more so into natural remedies and would ideally love to find a natural alternative if one exists.

Yes, my doctor did remove the endo. I am curious if women have successfully gotten pregnant after lap surgery alone. Also, I am interested to see if anyone with endo has used Maca Root and found it benefitial to their pain/symptoms and conceiving.

I have endo. I was never told what stage. I had it removed in November, but it is back already to some degree. I say that because of the symptoms I have been having on CD 1 for the last at least two cycles...identical to what I had before the surgery and all symptoms of endo. Lupron was not offered to me. My RE said he wasn't concerned about it for 6-12 months after surgery. This is month 7 . I did get pregnant on my first IUI after my surgery, but it ended in a chemical pregnancy. It was actually the second cycle that we tried, but the first was cancelled because I over responded. We are moving to IVF now.

AlaskaDee, no the being young commend did not offend me at all. I understand what you were referring to.

I am seeing my OB as my insurance does not cover an RE. :-( I wish it did. However, my OB has made many advances in the endo world and has lead the DiVinci Robotic Surgery. (or something I like, I just read a bunch about his involvement earlier)

I have stage 3.  RE only has had me take lupron when I'm prepping for an IVF cycle, but he does want me on birth control when we are "on a break" to keep it from coming back.  I took maca for 3-4 months.  I didn't feel much of a difference with my cramps/endo (it was before my lap), but I did feel more energized, for what it's worth.

I had stage 3 (almost stage 4) endo. I had a lap and had most of it removed, but there was places that they could not reach with the laser so I did 6 months of Lupron. I had very little trouble with the Lupron and to be honest, was glad I did it. I think the Lupron helps give you more time before regrowth rather than just a lap. I appreciated having more time before the endo became a problem again.

I think whether to do the Lupron or not is a very personal decision. I did not have success with just the lap/Lupron but I also have ovulation issues. If you have any questions about Lupron please feel free to PM me.

So the to the first part of your questions, we are TTC with endo. I found out I had it when I was 21. At that time I was not ready to have children so I did 6 months of Lupron injections.  It was an emotional roller coaster for me but I also had other factors going on. 

I had another Lap this year January and the OB/GYN said try for 6 months and then we will send you to an RE. I researched a lot on what to do after surgery and most journals say that surgery improves fertility for a short time after but that Lupron does not add any benefit but as you know the research on Endo has so many conflicting information.

I have stage 2 endo. When I found out, H and I had just gotten married (read two weeks married) and we were not quite ready to TTC. My doc recommended Lupron, but I did not want to that route. He then recommended low hormone BCP. Fast forward a few months and I came off BCP. My doc said that I had 6 months to conceive before we tried other methods. I conceived but it ended in an ectopic. 

Double check with your insurance and see what it is they do not cover. My insurance does not cover IVF, but it will cover some fertility stuff as long as I have a DX besides unexplained. I would talk to your insurance company, your doc, and your H. Were they able to get it all out? Are you charting your cycles? My doc recommended I start charting to make sure I was Oing, etc. I would recommend it for sure. ((Hugs)) hun and I hope you are able to find some answers.

I also have endo. I did a lot of research on this after my lap, and decided not to go the Lupron route. We decided to try naturally while we found an RE. After much discussion and thought we decided it was best to go straight to IVF based on the odds of success using other treatment options and the cost, as we are 100% OOP. In the meanwhile, I am doing acupuncture 3 times a month, and started the Endo diet. My insurance does not cover infertility AT ALL, but with a diagnosis of endo, they have been able to code all my testing/BW/ultra sounds/consults/appts with RE as a medical condition-endo. So I would maybe double check your insurance....it's a nightmare dealing with insurance companies, but will be well worth it for you to see a RE, especially with your diagnosis. Good luck! I am 27 and was diagnosed with endo at age 16 after having to go through 4 doctors and 2 laps. At age 16 I was also diagnosed with Prolactinoma. My husband and I have been TTC for the last 8 months and I am not regular (not ovulating normally at all), I am in pain. I am remembering all trouble I went through as a teenager. 

I know I was  going to have trouble but I was trying to avoid another Lap. I see the Doctor on Monday, does anyone have any advice?  Has anyone had to have multiple Laps and did not do the Lupron treatment and have any success stories?
